Talking Hi Girls, remember me?

Hiya! I used to post here a few months ago but things caught up with me in real-life so I haven't been around for a while!

Recap: I was the one whose endo Miss Dogface..er..Dalton wouldn't prescribe met., said I was greedy and that I should be sent to a fat-camp. My last appt. with her was last June and I haven't received a follow-up appt.! She said that if I ate less (er.. I was on negative calories, eating practically nothing+vomiting 5x daily) that I'd get better. She said that acne and hirsutism are pathetic things to be worried about, and as I wasn't TTC that she wouldn't treat me. She basically said that as a gay woman I had no right to be treated. Dianette nearly killed me.
I developed a potentially fatal (luckily it's rare!) brain condition as a result of not being treated, this interefered with my breathing, speech, memory, and has made me lose 80% of the sight in my left eye. My neurosurgeon was outraged that I wasn't being treated for my PCOS. Fortunately he's in a different Health Trust than Dogface, my initial neurologist refused to let the other trust treat me!
6 months ago. Got met. off the internet. Lost 8lbs in 6 weeks, after going from one small meal a day to about 6!! Yummy Also, after 6 weeks, got my PERIOD! The first one since I was 18 (6 yrs ago) that hadn't been induced by provera, Dianette or norethisterone. Started getting my period every single month!
3 months ago - the brain disease started to get worse, couldn't breathe, was sleeping for up to 16 hours a day, had to come off met.
3 weeks ago - had surgery on my spinal cord to put a shunt in. Afterward, started taking a'maintenance dose' of 250mg met. a day.
Last week? Got my period again, back straight away after 4 months! Woooo!

So, a big two fingers to Ms Dogface who said that met. wouldn't work 'cos I was just a greedy cow, and love and huggles to the people I used to talk to (ie. Starcat, Shira etc.) and to the newbies!

MWAH!

Lyns

Talking I remember!

Oooo, this is spooky, I was ordering some more metformin last night and thought about you, in fact I was going to email you to see how you were getting on! (just to check that our funny foreign met hadn't killed you off ,lol )

I'm really glad the met is working, are you going to see Miss Dogface again to tell her how wrong she was? I'd love to see her face when you prove to her thats she's a complete fool!

The met worked for me too, I've had a period every month which is very strange for me! I haven't lost any weight though but when I stopped met for a couple of weeks I put on 4lbs, so at least the met is stopping me getting fatter!

I've just ordered some spiro off the net too, I love being able to get my own meds, saves a whole lot of time and stress trying to educate foolish doctors!

The brain disease sounds scary, hope it gets a lot better soon. Will it improve when you get the wonky hormones sorted out?

Hiya Cat!

No, not dead yet, heheh. It is bizarre having periods again isn't it? Like, "AAARGH, what the hell is THAT? Oh...oh yeaaaaah" freaks me out! I was dead surprised that I lost weight on Met. because I was eating more in a day than I used to eat in a week. Can't wait to get started on it properly again! Hopefully this shunt will stop my brain pressure getting too high, and once the hormones are 'normal' then I should feel like 400% better, yay!
