This is my first time here. Iwas just diognosed in Feb with pcos but i have been a type one diabeteic for 6 years now. My ob put me into a 6 month long menapause because he was pretty sure that i had endometriosis.(pardon my spelling, never wasa very good at it). That was my first time off of birthcotrol since i was 14 years old, i'm 27 now. I gained 80 pounds in nine months and once the cycle was ove never did start up with a norman menstal cycle without meds. after somce research... i found out that i had most of the symtoms of pcos, i went to me endoconologyst fo some test and they came back positive... I just met with him to here my options for med and its not good... He is and awsome doc and he spacializes in this, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, etc. it appears that there are not alot of cases of pcos women that also have type 1 diabetes. Therefore the top med normally used would most likey kill me ( thats what he said) so i am on an injectable med ontop of my isulin pump, in the hopes of this helpng to loose 4-5 pounds a month. I am going to sell one of me horses because he is older and i am over his weight limit. that hurts to know that you are over somehtings weight limit. it is also hard to find any material on type 1 diabetes and pcos, please some one let me know that i am not alone.
It does sound horrible to be "over something's weight limit" - I've never considered it in those words before.
I was just diagnosed last week with PCOS. I am waiting for tests to come back to determine if I am diabetic also. Although I am fairly certain IF the tests came back positive I would be a type 2 diabetic, I want you to know that you will be in my thoughts and prayers.
thank you very much for your reply... it took almost 3 weeks to get full test results back for the pcos. with being a type 1 diabetic i do still produce isulin just not enough, he opted to put me on an insulin pump for better regulation but he is now kicking himself for not noticing some of the minor signs ealier... luckaly i get along with my doctoe really well.
I have never personally heard of Type 1 Diabetes and PCOS but it certainly doesn't mean it doesn't exist. You need to get yourself on a good nutrition program so you can coerce that weight to come off. I know it totally stinks not to have your body do what you want it too and its going to be a long frustrating road. But you are never alone in that aspect. We are all here to help you along with what ever it is. So good luck to you...

the hardest part about the whole thing is that i am insulin resitant (that is what the new meds are far) that just makes it all even harder. The doc wants me to do water arobics to keep the weight off my knees...well ok i live in the country so finding a cement pond is not easy so far but i did get an exercise bike, i like that.
