Hi ladies. My name is Julie and I was just diagnosed with PCOS today. I am nervous and relieved at the same time. I started Metformin today. I am optimistic that I will start feeling better soon. I went to the doctor after having 3 periods in 30 days. I am extremely tired and just "off". My dr did blood work and she said my hormones are all messed up. My LH was 29.4 and my FSH was 6.2. My insulin was high although I don't remember the number. I am hoping to find answers and comfort! I am glad I found this site!

Hi, I'm new too.... I was lurking before I went to the doctor. I had someone mention PCOS to me as a possibility when I was complaining about facial hair so I started googling it and lo & behold I had A LOT of the symptoms. I didn't realize it all went together and in hindsight, it explains SO MUCH. I was dx'd about a month ago. My dr. has me taking Aldactone 50 mg/day for the acne and facial hair [not helping yet], an Estrogen supplement by Metagenics and I'll start progesterone orally in 14 days. I go back in a month for a recheck and to check insulin levels. My dr. said the blood work showed my hormones all messed up.. I don't know the exact levels or what.
I want to try the metformin.... I don't know if it is for me though and what the prescribing criteria is... Right now my biggest problems symptom-wise are the acne & facial hair. They're really bothering me...
Anyway, I wish I would have known about this 10 years ago! I feel SO behind the 8 ball. I'm glad I know for sure... yet I feel so frustrated and just want to 'fix' it. I'm tired of struggling... grrrr.

I totally understand. Looking back over the years I can see that I have probably had this for 10+ years. I started puberty very young and had my first period at 11. I am tired all the time, irregular periods, acne, weight gain, hard time conceiving. It all makes sense now.
