I wanted to stop in and introduce myself before I started posting on the rest of the board. My name is Kristi and I was diagnosed with PCOS in July 2003. I've been on Metformin for 3 years now, but my dosage was just upped last month to 2000mg/day (was at 1500 mg). I am also on Nordette bcps. Along with PCOS, I also have Endometriosis. I have had my right ovary removed b/c of the endo, but my PCOS didn't improve at all (my doctor said there was a small chance of it).
A little about me personally. I'm 25 (26 on July 16!) and have a wonderful husband. We just adopted a baby girl, she is 6 months old. I am a teacher, so I have the summer off. Only a few more weeks left though!
I'm really excited to jump in on the boards and get to know some of you. My current goal is to try and lose weight. I need to shed 50 lbs in order to become healthier and hopefully make my PCOS a little more bearable. I've tried all kinds of diets and have been to a nutritionist. My will power is non-existent so I need help. I'm not able to exercise right now b/c I had foot surgery a month ago, I broke a bone and they had to remove it. That adds to the fun of everything! Honestly, I really miss taking walks with my daughter and just getting out and doing things. So no exercise is really a bad thing for me. I don't like the gym so much, but I do like to do other things.
Also, in 3-4 years, I'm having a complete hysterectomy (b/c of the endo) and I need to be healthy for that. I want to be down to my goal weight for at least 2 years by the time of the surgery. That way the surgery will be less painful.
I'm sorry to write so much, I get nervous talking to new people online. As I said before, though, I'm very excited to start meeting you all! Thanks for reading!

Welcome to the both of you. I have been recently diagnosed myself and it is scary and overwhelming. I just posted for the first time yesterday and it is already comforting knowing there is somewhere to turn and somebody will always be there to talk to. Feel free to chat anytime.
