Hi I'm a newbie, just wanted to introduce myself...
My name is Julie and I'm 18. I was just official diagnosed with PCOS in March. It all started around May of 2003 when I would stop menstruating for six months at a time. Then around September 2003 I went from my usual 150 pounds to 219 in the matter of three-five months when none of my eating habits changed, and also my breasts grew from a 36C to 40DD in the matter of 6 months.
Not only did my endocronologist discover I had PCOS, I also have an autoimmune disease called vitiligo. It's been a hard few months.
In May when I get home from college I'm starting my medication (I apologize, the name excapes me right now), diet and exercise. I'm beginning the long journey, but I'm glad I found this community to help me on my way.
Welcome to SC! I'm glad you. I hope the diet and exercise works well for you. There is a diet and exercise board on here. Which one are you thinking of starting?
Hi, I am glad that you got a diagnosis at such an early age. I think I've had it since I was a teenager, but just got diagnosed at age 33! I went from a size 8 to a size 16 in one summer as a teenager!! I wish you all the luck in the world.
I plan on starting the South Beach Diet... which seems to be popular among women with PCOS. In January my endocronologist told me to start at the second phase (which failed because I was at school and I hadnt been on it before and I got confused easily)... but when I went back in March I told her I was going to start at the beginning and she said that that was fine.
I went from about a size 9 to an 18 in about five months. Its really depressing looking back on old pictures of myself when I was a sophomore because when I was that age (about 15/16) I thought I was fat and hated doing anything that required any part of my bode exposed (esp. swimming)... and looking back it was all petty and stupid I'd give my left arm to be that size again.
My parents are supportive and since I'll be living with them over the summer they can monitor my intake and make sure that I'm not cheating. Hopefully I'll lose at least 30 pounds over the summer (about 10 pounds a month... if not more. More would be great ). I would love to be 150 pounds when I go back to school. An hopefully when I lose weight I'll lose a lot in my breasts, because God my back is hurting. Haha.
I appreciate your wishing me luck.
