I can't find an introductions board & I need to get 10 posts, so I can view links.
I am 24 years old. DH and I are about to celebrate our 2nd anniversary in August.
I went off of the pill on Dec. 27th and have only had 1 period since then. I had a 40 day cycle & then this cycle. Today is day 98 on this cycle.
I went to my GYN almost 2 weeks ago & my bloodwork was "consistent with PCOS". She is supposed to call me tomorrow to schedule an ultrasound.
I am scared & anxious. DH and I were not really TTC (I was off of the pill for other reasons) but we were secretly hoping it would just happen.
Update:
I got my official diagnosis on the 9th. I have PCOS. My doc started me on 500 mg Met 2x a day...but here on the 14th, with dehydration, nausea, extreme fatigue, and a headache I'm cutting myself back to 500 mg 1 time a day. I'm hoping this fatigue/dehyrdration goes away by morning, or else I may be in the hosp. tomorrow.

Welcome! My name is Shari, nice to meet you. The ultrasound was the confirmation after my blood work showed signs of PCOS (high testosterone, blood sugar or glucose level high), then I had an ultrasound 1 week later that confirmed PCOS.
I was scared as well. I knew that PCOS was going to be my diagnosis.... But still hoping that the weight gain was the reason why my body was out of wack. A little bit of my history is in my profile. I know that I have had this my whole menstruating life... It just got worse after I had my son.
Stay calm, sweetie. I will be thinking and praying for you.
Keep coming back to soulcysters and read up on PCOS. Soulcysters is a safe harbor.
Hugs! Everything is going to be alright as long as you take care of yourself.
Let us know how things are going.

In my view, a dx is better than not knowing. Once you figure out the cause, you can start working on a solution. Even if you aren't TTC at the moment (and I understand the "secretly hoping"... have been doing that for years!) it's easier to plan and prepare and make the next steps.
These forums are a wonderful cornicopia of knowledge and support no matter your situation. There is always someone who knows what's going on! Hate to say it, but usually the ladies on this site and other forums know more than the docs and will give you more ideas and support than you can ever imagine! Good luck on your life journey, and when the time comes... much baby dust to you!

Thanks everyone! I am overweight as well. I weigh almost 200 lbs & am only 5'2". In my defense I have gained 20 of that since February 8th. I had been 180 for a LONG time & was maintaining that weight.
I am looking forward to getting to know the women on the board as well as learning as much as I can about PCOS & my condition.

Welcome Steph! I am a newbie too. I was dx with PCOS last year. I have always been irregular and when I went to see my doctor she confirmed I had it. She started me on Provera to regulate my periods, but I still was not ovulating. She wants me to see a specialist. I weigh 270 and I am 5'7". I have been struggling to loose weight for a while now. I am considered 100 pounds overweight for my height and body type. (I am big boned )
Anyway, we are all here for you and wish you the best of luck!!
