i was told i have pcos in 2003 from a blood test and me not having a period for well over a yr and history of irregular periods..and nothing has been done at all. the only thing that was done was last yr when i was complaining of belly pain. no one could figure it out till i went to the ER for it. they said i need an ultra sound done and they found a 2 1/2 inch cyst on my left ovary. they did nothing then. i had to deal with the pain and it went away after finally bleeding for the first time in a yr. and since the ultra sound nothing has been done. i call my dr but she always just sends me up to the lab for diabetes testing and she said she knows i have diabetes and it doesnt know why its not showing.. could it be due to me not eating several hours (like from 7pm the night before till about noon the day after when i get back from testing.) or what? i know not much of anything about it besides when i saw a nurse at school she said i need to change doctors. i hate doctors i think a lot of them are lazy or whatever. i know that i am way over weight and i keep going from skinny to fat within like 2 weeks i went from a size 6 falling off me and then a couple weeks later i was back in a size 12-14... now i am a 11 and growing again. i am extremely depressed. i have the fatty liver thing and the dr told me to lose 30 pounds (i only weighed about 138 i think it said..im about 125 right now) when they found fatty liver thing they didnt know i had pcos yet. i was also complaining to this dr (while i was hospitalized) about the SAME belly pain i described above. the other thing i worry about is that i have been retaining a lot of water in my legs (24/7, nothing makes it better) they dont know why and they said its fine. i dont think its fine.. i can have my whole finger tip dissapear into my leg. i dont know if any of u can explain this one to me as for no one else can. i really need to find a dr. so much is wrong with me and no help is given at all.. not even a clue. the other thing is that i have a 4 yr old daughter and i had her tested for diabetes due to her father finding out hes diabetic. her fasting sugar level was 105.. what is normal?? i though it was under 100 for non fasting?? her dr said it was fine??? also her liver enzymes were VERY high a couple yrs ago (still unsolved) im talking about 3,000's high.. the dr immediately hospitalized her and did millions of testing.. im wondering if any of this could mean she could have it too.. if not now maybe later? can a 4 yr old have it????? or does anyone know anything? ok im going to stop typing for now. i just have so many questions and stuff building and no one to talk to.
Sounds like you need a new doctor hun. I had to go through at least 10 before I found one who actually even knew what I had. Dont give up hope.... I was looking for it and found it here I wish I could answer all of medical questions but I am not sure of normal levels and such myself. I have felt alone and unarmed until I found this site. Now I have lots of things to ask about and request next time I go to the doc. The best advise I have is to do as much research as you can so you know what to ask the doctor and what symptoms to point out. I am making a check list of things to talkto mine about.
Welcome to SC Hun I hope you find some of the answers you are looking for.
the other thing is that i have a 4 yr old daughter and i had her tested for diabetes due to her father finding out hes diabetic. her fasting sugar level was 105.. what is normal??
fyi - that is the same fasting as mine and the dr. said I was glucose impaired. I'm not sure if a child is under a different scale than adults but I would definitely check. It may be controllable through diet and exercise....make it a lifestyle issue now. There is also a good thread about PCOS and children on this site...it may have additional info. Good luck and welcome.

I hope you are able to find a new doctor, it can be hard to have someone who doesnt understand! I was also diagnosed with Fatty Liver before PCOS, that was when I had Gall Stones and had to have an ultrasound to see if they were there, they were and I had my gall bladder removed. I was told I had to change my diet to correct it as it could lead to serious health problems later in life. Now I think about it perhaps its related some how with PCOS?
