Unhappy HI Im NEW....

Hello Everyone,
Just wanted to introduce myself......My name is Val (28 yrs old 5'4" 165lbs) I live in Chicago with my Husband 30 years old. I stumbled across this site during my research of PCOS and I have to say it has given me great comfort and lots of answers that I needed.

I recently had a major pain in my left lower abdomine and went to the doctor who sent me to get an ultra sound. I was later told that they are pretty sure I have PCOS. I had not had my period in 5 months and previous to that had been on bcp. Prior to that I have gone almost 9 months without a period. When I was 18 I had an ovarian cyst burst and was hospitalized and in bed for 3 weeks. Still nobody thought I had PCOS.

My symptoms are: Hair falling out, pain in my abdomine, very very tired and fatigued, dizzy spells, hard time falling to sleep, nightmares, skin tags, very irratable bowel, slight fever in the evenings, very irregular periods, seriously emotionally draining pms and painful cramping when I actually get AF.

I have not been fully diagnosed nor had any tests done aside from the ultrasound because currently I do not have health insurance and am awaiting a reply from BCBS PPO to see if they will approve me.

I want to TTC next fall and I was told that I do not have any eggs...not sure the details as I have not been able to go back to the doctor.

I am so frustrated because all I want is to get this all taken care of and get on the proper meds so I can start feeling better. I have felt like crap for 2 months straight and it has been such a nightmare trying to get insurance. I am pretty sure I am IR and have been working with a friend who is a health counsler. I am now on a low carb, low suger, high protien and veggie diet. I still feel like crap. I am also taking fish oil and calcium-mag pills.

Thanks for being there soulcyster.net This site has really helped me to stop from freaking out.

-VAL

Hi Val-
I'm new here too. In fact, I just started posting today.

I am 28 also and my DH is 30. I am 5'3" and weigh about 153 lbs. My hubby and I live in Oregon. I was just diagnosed in April with Insulin Resistance (a major contributor to PCOS). I don't really have irregular periods and I don't have any cysts...I was a difficult one to diagnose. I have had 4 miscarriages and have not been able to get pregnant since 2006. I am currently following the insulin resistant diet and taking metformin. I think that if I am not pregnant by the end of the year, I will be asking my specialist if we can try and IUI.

I am sorry to hear that you have yet to have a diagnosis, and hope that you can find support and help here at soulcysters.

Thanks Rebecca,
Thanks for your message. Its nice to know that there are people who understand what I am going through. Sounds like you have had a rough go of it. Keep in touch and I hope things get easier for you. There are so many fertility specialists these days.....I know of a few good ones in Chicago that my friends havve had success with if you are ever interested.

Hi Val! I know exactly what you're going thru! I hope you find insurance soon! Be careful what dx you get while you're not under insurance... I delayed my dx so it wouldnt be considered "pre-existing"

Hey Val-
Thanks for the reply. Today was one of those days that I don't like being on Metformin. It seems like any time I travel my body freaks out. I've started carrying Pepto Bismol around everywhere. I'm hoping my Dr. here locally will be able to help us out. I give him kudos for trying to let nature work it's course....but enough of that already! LOL

I hope you can get some insurance soon. I have insurance provided through my employer which is great....except there is no fertility coverage! Everything I do to try and get pregnant is an out of pocket cost..YIKES. Oh well....it's worth it or I wouldn't do it.

Keep me posted. BTW...how are you feeling?
