Hi
I am new here and would love to meet other people diagnosed with PCOS.My name is Meg, Im 26yrs and live in Australia I was diagnoised July this year with PCOS. I havent had a period since november 04.My periods were always normal up until november. I had some other symptoms of PCOS. Especially fertility problems. It took 5 yrs to concieve my DD. I would love just one more child,A bit impossible when your periods been absent for months I guess! I have never even heard of PCOS till my doctor told me I have it. I thought it was like cancer or something.
Because I am overweight, my doctor wants me to loose weight before putting me on pills to start my periods. But I am just finding it so hard to loose weight because I am so down of late. It has taken me the past month to grasp that I need to do something major to get my body back in order.
Is there anyone like me who is just waiting for their periods to arrive?? I am starting to feel abnormal cause I dont have a period and starting to loose the plot mentally!!
None of my friends or family understand what Im going through... So really love to meet some new people.

To Soulcysters!
I to didnt have a period @ all when i was d/x with pcos 4yrs ago. I hadnt had one for almost 2 yrs unless the doctor had givin me provera. Have you asked your doctor to prescribe you @ least metformin? If you are insulin resistant that will help your body even out a bit and possibly bring af after a few months. I had to loose about 20lbs before mine started coming back on there own. Gradually they got to be more and more normal as i lost the weight. Good Luck to you, and this place is great for info and support.

Welcome to Soulcysters!!! You're name is really cute - is there a recipe that goes along with it? It's so hot here (in Los Angeles, CA USA) that some fruity soup would be terrif, right about now!

Hi Welcome to sc! Well right now I am having my first cycle that wasn't started with provera in years. I lost some weight but I also found a doctor that was willing to work with me. The boards here are full of wonderful women and advice. Theres also a lot of articles that I found really informitive. Good luck

metformin 1000mg 2x a day
Hi Meg, welcome to Soulcysters. It's always nice to welcome a fellow Aussie. Hope to see you at the Aussie Kiwi forum too.
My doc prescribed metformin tablets which over time has given me a regular period, and helps a bit with the weight.
Good luck with everything, hope you get things sorted out and enjoy reading all the info here.

Thx for the warm welcome I LOVEEEEEEEEEE THIS SITE!!!!
I have spent quite alot today reading all the great information on this website!! If only I looked at it sooner!! Everything now is clicking into place, especially now I understand my fertility problems from the past. It took 5 yrs to concieve our DD and now that I think of it, I fell pregnant when I was on Weight Watchers. Once I fell pregnant the diet went out the door too... Big big Mistake!!!
The doctor wanted me to strictly go on a diet for 2months to naturally see if my body will go back to normal. I have such an adverse reaction to medication at times, thats the reason why he never prescribed medication. Yet... I have to confess, I havent started on my diet... But after reading so much today, its sure has lifted my spirits and Im gonna dust off my old trusty exersize bike and get back into a better eating routine!!
I got alot to loose but I know that I will get there
THX again for the warm welcome!!! I am so glad to have found this site!!!
