Unhappy Hi ladies! :) Anyone here on Clomid and Metformin?? Anyone HATE OPKs??

Hello!

I am new obviously and was diagnosed with PCOS last month after coming off bcp and ttc for the past year. Blahh!!! This has not been a fun experience. Since getting off bcp I have gained 20 pounds, got horrible acne and only had one period the whole year. Every month I would pray that maybe, just maybe, I was pregnant and that's why AF never came, but no! I have PCOS. So besides the weight gain and acne, those are the only external symptoms. I did get an u/s and I have the classic "string of pearl" follicles in my ovaries (so that's where all my little eggies went!!), and I am trying to cope with the fact that I have this sucky disorder which I have no real control over.

Anyways, my Dr. put me on 500mg metformin and I am in my first round of 50mg Clomid (CD 5-9). This month has sucked. I was so excited to finally be doing something about the PCOS, but I have had some weird mixed results with trying to track ovulation. For some reason this month all my OPKs were negative, until I went against the boxes warning and tested with first morning urine. Apparently, if you test for LH in the morning, you are supposed to get a negative because LH won't be built up in your system, right?

Well...I took an OPK with my first morning urine, which is a big "no, no", and what do you know, I got a blazing positive OPK. Tested that same day in the afternoon and it was negative. The next day, blazing positive in the am, negative in the pm. Everyday since I noticed this I have been doing an OPK in the morning and one in the afternoon just to make sure I am not going crazy and it's really true. I am only testing a true positive for LH in the mornings. What does this mean? I am on CD 25 now and don't know if I've ever really ovulated and that makes me super sad I really wanted the clomid to work for me.

So, to keep my sanity intact, I have joined this little community. I hope you guys can help me out and hopefully let me know if you guys are going through the same thing or have any advice???

Thanks so much for reading my novel.

Much love from the Midwest!!

Hello and welcome. I was diagnosed with PCOS yesterday so I'm new too! I just got the Clear Blue Easy Digital Fertility monitor and it explicitly states to use only first morning urine, as it's the most concentrated with LH amoung (and HCG so if you do a preg. test do it in the a.m. also). Good luck to you!!
