Default Hi, New Here...

Hi everyone,

I got diagnosed last summer. My GP has been fairly dismissive of the whole issue. I have not felt right in myself for ages, the last few years I just seemed to be tired all the time, i have incredible sugar cravings although i have managed to curb these somewhat through sheer force of will and dietary changes, and approx. 18 mnths ago i started getting gradual hair loss. I also have horrible skin, not spotty but very blocked pores.
I get married on 3rd Sept and am beginning to worry about fertility issues and how we will cope with them when ttc. I am 24 yrs old. I am also concerned with hair loss as is obviously unpleasant and i would like to do as much as possible to minimise this symptom ie dietary changes etc?
I have painful and irregular periods and generally often seem to feel unenergetic and poo.
Have been trying to switch to organic foods, but is difficult and expensive. Have lost weight in the past 6 mnths, now approx 148 pounds and 5ft5 so not too bad weight wise.
Sorry to ramble on, just feeling a bit fed up today.

Hi and welcome to Soul Cysters

Sorry you are feeling fed up I know it sucks when you have so much stuff going on with your body and it seems like you can't do anything to change it. Oh how I would love there to be a magical pill or shot that was cheap and widely available that we could all take once and be well for the rest of our lives!! Good luck with your treatment

Hi, Adia. I found that taking chromium polynicotinate tabs helped a lot with my sugar cravings. You can get them at good health food stores, or online. I'm afraid a lot of doctors are generally unhelpful with PCOS issues; I think it's often because they are quite ignorant of the problem and unwilling to learn about it.
Organic food is unfortunately very expensive and sometimes hard to come by. Do you have a little garden or plot that you could grow some fruit and veggies in? I don't know what I would do without our allotment. It helps with the whole exercise thing, too. At the moment, I am picking loads of fresh rhubarb, strawberries, (I love strawberries!) rocket and lettuce.
You'll be glad you found this site, it's great.
