Hi everyone - I'm Tori, 27/f, just dx'd with PCOS in Nov 2006 after an ultrasound showed cysts and my bloodwork came back abnormal. I also am overweight, and have excessive hair growth/bad acne/fatigue. Arrgh! So now that I know what's wrong, I'm trying to do something about it. I was able to conceive my daughter Julia with no intervention (I had just lost 40 lbs and did not know I had PCOS), and she was born 5 weeks early due to preeclampsia.
Now I'm on Yasmin (which is making my acne worse I think!) and I'm going to see an endocrinologist on Monday. I'd love any advice or help! Should I change BCPs (I've been on Yasmin for 2 months and it's not helping acne/weight)? Also, is depression common in PCOS? Thanks so much!

welcome sc
depression certainly is common in pcos. see the section on depression. the only bcp i've had experience with is dianne-35 which blocks testosterone. it is used for problems like severe acne and hirsutism. bcp pills though can also be responsible for depression.

For me the BCP's I tried made the depression worse, and yes depression is very common with pcos!
Check out the depression board here for any help or advice you may need!
Welcome

As the other cysters said, depression is common in women with PCOS. I have done well on Prozac (my depression is almost always around AF time). :Hugs: I know how it hurts to be depressed. We are here for you cyster.
Hugs
