Hi all. I've sat for about 5 minutes trying to figure out how to start this thread lol. A little nervous here.
Well, I'm from Scotland and after much searching on the PCOS subject, I decided to look for a forum with people who can actually tell me more than my doctors and where I would find people who wont shy away from the subject when I bring it up. I get this a lot.
I've not offically been diagnosed with PCOS but my bloods have come back with the suggestion that I do and I have an internal exam coming up this friday. To say I'm nervous is an understatement. I'm pooing myself. I have excess hair growth, constant periods and I'm overweight. So far I've been bleeding for 2 weeks now and it's been like this since Aug last year. I'll maybe have a break of about a week and then I start again. I find myself trapped in the house most days because the bleeding can be so heavy.
It's been good to read up on PCOS but nothing beats advice from people who are actually going through the same things as yourself. I'm not sleeping much because of the worry and all the bad thoughts wont leave. I'm looking forward to reading more about PCOS on here and looking forward to getting to know you all
I'm glad you found us here on SoulCysters!
I was just diagnosed about two weeks ago.. I remember how frightened I was. Reading around this site has helped calm and educate me about PCOS.. and I'm not that scared anymore!
Welcome!

Just wanted to say hello and welcome. Good luck with your appt tomorrow and finding some answers and treatment that will help you. It's definately nice to have this site where you can talk to people who know what you're talking about. Best of luck to you, and hope you find lots of info and support here!
Thank you so much, everyone. I'm so glad I found this forum and it'll be a pleasure getting to know you all. I would never have thought about looking for books to read on pcos but since reading around the forum, I went on the search for books and I'm bidding on a few on ebay
I'll be sure to let you know what happens after tomorrow. I've spoken to the Sister of the clinic and she's been supportive and told me what to expect. Just got to try and remain calm for the rest of today now lol.
Welcome to SC! I'm pretty new to the board myself. (joined about a week ago) I was diagnosed Feb '06, I went into the Dr because I had weight that I just couldn't loose, wacky cycles and couldn't get pg. (I don't think that I have the "strand of pearls" though, although I know I've had cysts on my cervix because I've been told that.
Good luck tomorrow!!

I've been and had my scan (and have a copy of the scan picture). She said in her opinion I have pcos. She said I have 12 sacks on my left ovary and have some on the right. Now I just have to wait for an appointment with my doc.
The letter they sent the hospital said they were thinking of starting me on Met. It's just a waiting game now, I guess but I'm much more happy that someone has come out and said that I do have pcos, in her opinion. Before all I kept hearing was "you could do. maybe not." Such a weight off my mind.
I'm glad you were able to get an answer! It must be such a weight off as you said! Now you have to wait to see your Dr before getting the met right? Good luck, I hope the time passes by quickly for you!

It seems to be dragging by just now lol I've made up my mind that I'll call the doctor next week if they've not got in touch. Knowing my doctor, they wont take the step to make an appointment if I dont step in.
Have you heard anything yet? I hate how most Dr's like to take their sweet time!
