My name is jane and was diagnosed with PCOS about a year ago. Well, sort of anyway, it was all very..'oh yeah you have multiple folicals on your ovaries' And when I said about my skin probs and a few other symptoms she simply said 'you have PCOS' I still don't really fully understand it all, only what i have read myself. Nothing further was discussed really, except the increased risk of hear disease and diabetes.
She fitted my with the coil there and then, which tbh has reduced my periods significantly, but caused other problems...constant spotting one of them. But on reading the various treatments, I have found none which suggest the coil as one of them!
Has anyone else been fitted with the coil to reduce heavy periods?
Anyway, I have a milion and one questions but for now just wanted to say 'hi'
Hello! I know I already responded to your post "the coil" but wanted to give you a formal welcome aswell. You are going to find so many lovely and supportive women on this site. There is a lot of information here that you can read and share with your husband or whoever you choose. This board is designed so well, that whatever you are feeling, or whatever you need to vent about, chances are you'll find a place to say what is on your mind, and have women who are going through the same things, frustrations, or just be there for you and let you know we are here to listen.

Welcome to the site! While I've never heard anything about a coil being a treatment for PCOS, there are many research and reference links off the site as well as a wide variety of ladies on a wide variety of treatments, so hopefully, someone will no something!
Welcome to the site - it's a great place, and it's really helped me with some of my big PCOS worries to my little 'freak out' worries. I started off being diagnosed in a kind of 'yes, well, deal with it' kind of way...but since I got a decent consultant, I've started to understand the whole thing so much more.
All those times I would burst into tears about my inability to shift weight?
Headaches?
Tiredness?
Fuzziness?
TOTM going AWOL?
Yep, all PCOS!
My doctor didn't want to do anything at first, as I was considered 'normal weight' - although I had put on more than I ever had in my life, despite restrictive diets...and also because I am not Insulin Resistant.
My consultant, however, put me on metformin...and now I am seeing a difference. Finally!
