Default Hi. Newbie Here...Questions about Diane 35?

Hi. I'm not sure if I have PCOS, well.. the doctors aren't sure I have PCOS; I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism when i was 13 and have been battling hormone issues ever since. Recently, I went to the clinic for checkup..complaining of being tired and they ran all sorts of test. I was told that the results were 'not ok' and send for ultrasounds and to an endocronologist. So, the ultrasound showed cysts on my ovaries and a new bach of tests were done...however I don't understand the results. I haven't had regular periods since my first when I was 16...generally coming once every 6 months or less. In January I was prescribed Progesterone pills to induce my period then I was put on Diane 35. Which is where I am now, after 4 months of Diane. I don't have acne, or facial hair and am wondering if anyone has experience with taking Diane 35 only to correct cycle problems? The pills have so far been a nightmare and I would like to stop especially after reading some other posts. I have gained weight like I can't believe (I'm an active person and managed to gain about 30 pounds in less than 5 months ) and now have been facing stomache issues (lots of bloating and throwing up...especially after eating or taking vitamin pills, as well as horrific mood swings. I am a naturally happy person, and since taking these I have become agitaed, moody and very sad..nearly all the time. I used ot have bad days once in a while, but now I seem to have good days once in a while...if anyone has any advice or insight it would be greatly appreciated. I have just moved and am waiting for a referral to a new doctor...would love some comfort in the meantime.
Cheers and thank you
Kris

Welcome to SC. I do not know about Diane 35, but from what you are saying you need to see your dr. I cannot take birth control pills due to a lot of the symptoms you are stating. My dr and I decided not to use them to regulate my period because the mood swings were so bad.

Good luck.

hi!!! wellcome to SC!!!
i used diane in the past, i had no major issues with the mood swings - i indeed had it while i was off bcp- but i suffered of nausea and sickness while on it. i mainly took it to dissolve the cysts but it helped with hair too (but that was not the reason i was taking it)

i recently passed to the nuvaring.

if you have any other question ask away!!

I took Diane-35 for 8 years and did not have the issues you are having. It was great for regulating my cycle and helped with hair loss/acne a little. I did not gain excess weight from it. I did get nausiated while taking multivitamins but I hear that from people who do not take the pill as well. If you are only taking it to regulate your cycle then any pill is as good as the next. Maybe Diane-35 just isn't for you.

I agree that perhaps Diane just doesn't suit you and perhaps it's not worth trying to tolerate it.
There are other options out there that could really help you, although I personally haven't tried any other meds so can't offer any useful advice
