I'm not quite sure what's going on here. I started to get a thick, brown discharge a few weeks ago. Many big clots to go along with it. It wasn't heavy enough to wear anything thicker than a panty liner. I thought I was getting my period, but my "period" (i.e. red blood and tampons) has not started. Is this a period? More importantly, does this mean I have ovulated? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

If you're on the pill, I would say that it's breakthrough bleeding or just a light period, but I'm assuming you're not since you're asking about ovulating. I sometimes get a brown discharge right before AF starts, but it only lasts a few days for me. If it's been going on for a few weeks though, I would check with your doctor to see what's going on.

You're right, I'm not on the pill. This happened to me once before...last summer. It started out the same way and I ended up with a period that lasted for two months. I certainly hope that doesn't happen again.
