Post hiding hairloss...best options?

I lost quite alot of hair on top a few years ago, what seemed like overnight. Some did grow back but the balance never got back to normal, the new never kept up with the loss after that.

I do use Dicesare thicker hair thickening shampoo and amplifying tonic, which works great covering 90% of the show through, that still leaves the very front...but I guess you can only thicken what you already have. There is less to work with at the front and now I have receeding temple hair ahh!!

I am really fed up with standing at the mirror trying to organise it better with hairspray, and it always looks worse on the day I wash it. I do try not to go out on that day. The sunshine coming never helps.

If you can relate or have found a product that works for you, I would love to hear.

That feels better getting that moan out in the open

I too have been feeling the frustration of the hair loss showing.

I've found that keeping hair a bit shorter than shoulder length with long layers had helped conceal the bald areas. However, after two or three weeks it's starts to become difficult again.

I've heard good things about Toppik although I have not tried it myself.

Other than that, I'm still just plugging away with my vitamins and meds hoping that the hair will grown back.

I was told by a former hairstylist to dye my hair and it would appear thicker...partly because the dye would damage the hair strand.

I don't like to dye my hair for fear the harsh chemicals would cause more hair to fall out but I did try those shampoos that are tinted w/ color and my hair did feel a little thicker ...but it could've been wishful thinking. It's worth a shot....just be careful if your hair is light to get a shampoo for light hair and I'd recommend a good conditioner. I used a shampoo from the Body Shop but it has now been discontinued.

I hide my bald spot w/ a side part...luckily it hides pretty well.

I bought something a hair thickening styling product from Bedhead brand, and it's not bad, but I've noticed w/ my hair, no styling products is better than any or else it can weigh my hair down.

Also, I've read sweat is a hair volumizer. I've noticed this to be true, after working out, and letting the sweat dry, my hair does have more volume. On the flip side, it can smell, and who likes to have sweat on their head.

I wonder if mixing water with a little bit of salt in an empty spray bottle might mimic the hair volumizing action of sweat. Never tried it but I use a product called Beach Blonde Ocean waves spray and it contains sea salt. It's not a volumizer and I don't spray it on my scalp, but it's supposed to make hair look tousled and wavy and I like it cause it's not heavy (I don't use a lot).

I might try making the salt and water mix to see if it makes hair look more full, but too much salt would probably show up on the hair.

Post chop some of it

I just noticed that I cut my hair from mid-back to below-shoulders and it looks 100x bushier and fuller. I also have been using Nizoral and sometimes Nioxin for a while and it fattens it up some. If my hair gets oily it gets really flat and wimpy, so I have to wash more often that before PCOS. So in short, maybe getting a trim or some layers would help poof it up?

I went with a really short layered hair cut and my hair looks so much thicker in front. I also experiment with color. Bleaching/highlighting definitely gives the hair more body - maybe experiment with some highlights in the front areas where your hair is thinnest. I haven't found that coloring makes my hair any thinner or causes it to fall out more.

I tried Toppik and it didn't work for me. Didn't look natural at all.

Hope that helps.

My mom has very thin hair, has for years...

She has a short cute cut (very boyish) but it suits her she is absolutely beautiful

She also dyes it a colour called "linen" which is a bit like a honey brown with a bit of grey mixed in and its very hard to tell whats going on up there which is a great distraction from the fact that she has pretty much a newborn head o' hair up there...

Good luck...I am listenin (or reading) your posts becuz I am
headed there too ...

xoxo take care
