Yeah i guess u could say that.. And they say that HS is genetic but no one in my family has it. And they say it comes up in folds of skin and in sweat glands, which for the most part is right, but I have gotten them on my feet and had to have 2 major surgeries on my eyes because they come up under the eyelids. I have had about 10 surgeries below the waste. and a handful above. I am about to have all the skin under my arms removed because they keep coming up so bad. It has been so many years that my body is immune to about every medicine they give me. I cant sit in a tub and wait a couple of days anymore because they dont "pop" anymore. I mean they do.. but on the inside and then Trac out to other places.. Here are some pics some arent pretty.. but thats what hs is. I am not complaining though. Just more excited that there are cysters in the same boat!!!

Default Question on HS and being PG

I think I may have HS, but the weird thing is that it seems to have just popped up during my pregnancy. I freaked out when I saw the cysts/boils "down there" and thought something was very wrong. Upon examination my ob said it was just a rash of some sort, gave me some rx powder and sent me on my way. The powder seems to help, but the boils seem to come and go as they please. Has anyone heard of this condition starting during pregnancy?
Is this something I should be concerned about - i.e. is it in any way harmful to my baby and/or contagious? My ob doesn't seem concerned, but since this is something new for me I like to get as much info as possible. From the info I've found on the net, my symptoms seem to fit perfectly, I'm just wondering how it is being pregnant.
If anyone has any information please let me know, I'd appreciate it much!

Thanks!

That's probably what it is. I would think that if your OB is not worried about it then don't worry yourself. Mine come up in the same places everytime as well. They hurt like heck. I have about 5 of them right now. It hurts to even sit.

I feel for you!!!!

Hello all, my first post here and what a subject to start on!
I've had these little bleeders too, and it is a huge relief to find out I'm not alone.

Been on metformin for about 5 months now and in the last month or so only had one "down there" Thank goodness, as they sure are painful.
The gross warm bath and squeeze aproach has thankful worked for me but boy does it hurt while you do it.

I came to this site because of a thread on medication that I take....I had no idea that some of you suffer from this like I do.

I was diagnosed about 6 years ago and I started having signs around the onset of puberty. I have always had it but, was embarrassed to talk to anyone about it.

I started getting the cysts on my breasts a few years backand about a year ago I started getting them on my armpits.

I have not had to have any surgeries but....bathing suits and sleeveless shirts are a no no!! Well, if the bathing suit has a long enough skirt I can get away with it.

Before diagnosis, I thought I had it because of being fat, sweaty and just plain disgusting. HS is a very emotionally devasting disease. I still have low self esteem at times because of it. My DH is very understanding.

When my diabetes is under control the "down there" ones aren't as bad. But, my breasts are always sore and yucky. I think it is because they are big(D), Florida is humid and sweaty, and well, they only "air out" at night.

Thanks for sharing and listening to me.

Pam-I get these ALL the time. I have been hospitolized 2 times because they had gotten so infected and huge. 1 even tested positive for strep. Alot of other times I had to have them lanced at the clinic I use bactroban cream on them. But when I get the bad ones that have me out of commision I use epsom salt in a warm rag, placed it right on the boil and then put a heating pad on that, and the heat draws the crap right out. I have done that with the last 2 real bad ones I have had. 1 was just a couple weeks ago. I typically have to get those lanced but that has been working.

Nicole! I have asked this before and I am happy to know that it is not a coinsidence. I hardly ever have a natural af, but every once in a while I get a bad boil (I have these ALWAYS-the real bad ones I get a few times a year) about 7-10 days later af comes. It also happens when I use provera. My theory??????Higher progersterone is one of the causes of these suckers.

Try the heat pad, it's so hot it numbs the pain , but beware, have a towel right under you because it will bust and you won't feel it. That is the only way I can deal with them aside from getting them lanced and let me tell you, that is PAINFUL.

I believe progesterone may be a cause for some of mine the other time it's my diabetes. Have you been checked for gd?

When do they decide to remove them? Does it have to get to a certian point first?

I have these always, In my armpits but more so in my inner thigh groin area. I have about 5-6 right now that range from the size of a pea to a quarter. Once in a while I will get one that grows to the size of a key-lime to a baseball, and what usually happens is it starts off small and while the infections grows in becomes enlarged , very red, and tender. I cannot even walk because of the pian. I am not a pill popper, but my medicine cabinat has it all, vicodin, percosat, darvocat, you name it is there. When it gets that bad is when I go get it removed/lanced. But for me that experience is awful, so I tend to wait til the last minute and even then fight to go in. They will give you a local anesthetic, but that crap hurts becaue your so tender their. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy! I got one in may that was so bad, I just didn't want to go in, my last try was the heating pad. The heat numbed the pain. I got up after 1/2 an hour to use the rest room, and it had busted everywhere (tmi) and the smell of those things is horrid, but at least I didn't have to go get it lanced. I had 1 2 weeks ago that was bad to but the heating again took care of it.

Ugh, I hate these! I haven't had one in a while (knock on wood) but still have scars from old ones. They tend to appear on my lower body - thighs (especially where the thigh meets the butt), groin and calves in particular.

When I was a teenager, I had one IN my EAR! Ohh, the pain. It was also dangerous as if it leaked, it would have gone straight into my head. I remember my mom lanced it for me and I screamed. This was probably 12 years ago but I still remember it vividly.

Mine never get to the size of a lime but they do get to the size of maybe a grape. They hurt like crap. There is one that I have now that have been leaking for almost 5 weeks now. (sorry way tmi)

I've debated weather I should go to the Dr's.

hi

i had one removed from under my arm - general anaesthetic - it was bigger than an egg. Had 6 removed from my scalp - at different times. Some were the size of a whole garlic, others a bit smaller.
