I've got these and I didn't notice any relief while I was on the depo shot...but then I was probably too busy curling in the fetal position and waiting for death (depo amplified my PCOS ovary pain by about 4 times, and ultrasounds will show just how damaged my ovaries are)
My problem is that now all those little pustules are making friends...i have a fullscale bacterial infection in the armpits that are driving me insane...I wash them 4 times a day in antibacterial soap, pat dry, rub in triple antibiotic ointment and it's not getting any better. For a while i thought it was fungal...but the anti-fungal cream i have actually made it worse. I have a doctors appt for a week from now...i hope we can figure out how to get rid of it!

I have these boils (or whatever they're called too). I shouldv'e known it was related to the ugly-woman sydrome (aka PCOS). I get them on my inner thighs and sometimes on my waist. Mine dont usually get too big...but bigger than an average pimple. They are gross and painful. I think they are getting slightly less since being on the right dose of met. Interesting that it's related to PCOS.

Luckily (???), mine were always limited to the groin. I stopped getting them after I began taking Met. I haven't had any since getting pregnant. I guess the hormone change did it for me. It will be interesting to see if they come back after the baby. I'm VERY glad to not have the severe ones you all have described.
I used to have 2 on my groin that fairly regularly popped up(mostly just before AF). Right after I had my son I had one, but it wasn't bad, and I haven't had one since, so it's been over 3 years. So I guess having a baby fixed it for me. I was lucky though that mine weren't as severe as most here have described, just one usually(until that tracked and made another nearby) and usually they were small and the hot baths fixed it real easy. I've only had a few get really big and had to have them lanced. i just pray they never come back!

Well i went to the Dr. and I have to go back again next week....but it looks like I'm going to be having the full scale "armpit removal" surgery.
Anyone had it? Can you tell me how long you were out of work?

Sorry for asking a personal question but could someone explain to me exactly what these look like? And when people say "down there"/groin area are you meaning thighs and regular skin? Every once and a while I will get red, blister like things that are extrememly painful on the mucus membrane skin of "down there" (sorry for the TMI) and I was thinking maybe an STI!?! But they sound quite similar to what this thread is talking about so hopefully (or maybe not considering some of the stories here) this is what it is. They usually go away on their own in a week or so. I've also had 2 boils right down in my ear and, wow, talk about painful!!!
Thanks for any feedback
Days ~ The ones I get are in the area "beyond where hair grows." Some of them disappear on their own. Some of them I "pop" after soaking in hot water. I've never had anything that involved surgical removal. I used to think they were just pimples until I read about HS and it's link to PCOS.

Okay - horrible that you all have them - but I am so glad I am not in this alone! I hate these things.
Yes they do affet intimacyy for me - I do not want ANYONE near the area when one is active!
For the most part - I have a routine that keeps it in check - but if I eat to much chocolate - it flairs them up like crazy. And they will get worse right before my cycle.

I always assumed these were just really bad zits--ugh. Mine aren't terrible--nothing I've ever seen a doc for--but they're gross and they do hurt. I wonder if I should ask my doctor about them when I actually find a doctor in our new neighborhood?
I have 2 in my inner thigh/groin, close to the elastic on my underwear. I showed up during AF last week and I thought it was sweat gland related to the wings on the pads I used. I have had this before but I was too embarassed to even mention it to my doctor and lucking they went away after a while. I think I have one on my tailbone, but it only bothers me when I am sitting on something hard and put weigh on it while adjusting. I guess I will have to keep an eye on it. I hope it goes away by itself or at least stay the same size. When I was 19 I got one in my arm pit and it scared me half to death. Luckily, when I did go see the doctor, she told me it was a infected sweat gland related to shaving. After a week or so of hot compresses it went away. Wow, if it weren't for this message board I would still be thinking it was sweat gland and shaving related.

[quote=Julius;1888208896]Yes! My calves! Go figure. The first one I got there, I didn't realize it was a boil and thought it was a spider bite or something. I've had a few there now and scars for each one.
Oh, wow! My DD, who was only about 8 years old at the time, got something like this, also on her calf and and first I thought it was a spider bite. Dr said it was more likely a boil (lanced it and she got antibiotics). DD is my candidate for PCOS, too (poor kid!), based on eating habits, emotions, etc. (She's the child most like me...) DD is now ten, and I'm watching like a mother hawk for other signs of PCOS. Did anyone start getting these kinds of boils as a child?
I've had boils since I was a teen (when PCOS set in). I used to get them fairly often behind my ears, upper neck, NOT a wet site! They hurt like H, too. My PCOS is under control and boils are much less frequent. So there IS hope.
I used to get them even as kid, but I also had my first AF at 9 years. Still get the occasional one on the inside thigh. This is going to sound really weird, but it works. Put an egg skin on it(the slimy membrane at the bottom of the shell after you dump egg). Cover with a bandaid for 8 hours. One of 2 things will happen. You will either get a big giant yellowhead close enough to the surface to pop(i know, eewww) or it will really shrink down, no head. If it shrinks, put another one on for another 8 hours and it should go away. Obviously this method wont work for those located "where hair wont grow" but should work for thighs and underarms.
