hidradenitis suppurativa. I'm 16 years old, i just recently discovered what this was. i've had it since i was 3 months old. My mom was trying to figure out what it was and then she passed away 5 years ago. i've done alot of research on it, and theres no known cure. I'm taking an oral medication and a cream that my doctor prescribed me. For the longest time i was emberrased to talk about it, to even my own familly. it is a very common thing mainly with females, i've read that the ratio of guys and girls getting it is 4:1. I only have it in my bikini area, and sometimes in my arm pits. Shaving doesn't help, the doctor told me i should try waxing instead. i also read that surgery is the best way to get rid of it. (still, not 100% sure this will help) I'm glad i'm not alone with this chronical disease.. it helps me out to know that theres others out there that have to deal with it too. I'm sexually active, and i told my boyfriend of 7 months about it, reasured him it wasn't contagious. I understand how you feel about this because i've had to deal with it all my life too.
