My doctor recently took me off Aldactone and as a result the boils came back. But this one is the absolute worst.
I've been bed ridden for 4 days. I was in extrme pain and couldn't walk or stand. 3/4 of my abdomen has been swollen. On Monday I went to the doctor. He gave me an antibiotic but wouldn't lance it. Then yesterday when I got out of bed to try and fix breakfast it burst and so I had to go back to the doctor to have him finish draining it. It was so painful.
I'm doing better today but still in a little bit of pain. Anyways, as a reminder, when you see these boils occuring keep an eye on them and go see your doctor. I'm also going to ask my doctor if I can go back on the Aldactone because I can't tolerate any more of these!

Oh girl, I feel your pain! HS is absolutely the worst! I can't even wear a swimsuit in the summer because of the scars on my thighs. Luckily, I've never had one get that out of control, but I can remember a couple right on the pantyline in my groin area that literally had me barely able to walk because of the panties rubbing against it. If you are not opposed to birth control pills, they completely cured mine while I was on them (I am off now, so dealing with HS again). Antibiotics cleared it up too -- both Bactrim and minocycline -- until I became allergic to both.

Aldactone is an androgen inhibitor, which means it lowers testosterone levels. High testosterone levels have been shown to be a leading cause of HS. It worked for me!

Lamaanlove, while I was on the Aldactone, I did not have ANY symptoms of the HS. And, of course, the facial acne cleared up completely. It was amazing.
As much as I hate taking Aldactone, it sure did work.

I honestly don't know if it was the losing weight or controlling insulin or Saw Palmetto, but I don't get HS any more.
