Default Hidradenitus Supperativa?

Can someone who has HS (Hidradenitus Supperativa) describe what it's like for them? I feel like I need to be screened for this, but want to make sure I know what I'm talking about.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks Eva. I posted that same link somewhere on here just yesterday. lol I have been getting boil like sores on my upper thighs/groin area, and once under my breast. I thought they were just boils, but the more I read and research, I'm almost certain it's HS. I'll talk to my doctor when I see him Tuesday.

I get them in the groin area. They can be related to PCOS. Eva is certainly one of the experts on these things. I found that mine improved while I was taking Metformin.

Oh my gosh, I have a lesion in my left groin area and one by my tailbone (pilonidal cyst) that have been recurring for years. I'm going to talk to my Dr. about it, now...

I was surprised to see this thread since I was just diagnosed with this condition last week... Mine started with what my OB thought was a boil in the groin area extremely painful and BIG he treated it with antibiotics and it went away for a week and came back so he referred me to a dermatologist. She drained it and thought it was a cyst until my follow up when I now had one under my arm and had one on the other side of my groin and a little one that comes and goes on my head. This is when she came up with her diagnosis drained the one groin one again and injected the 2 with steroids because I am pregnant she didn't want to cut them out but thinks I may need to see a surgeon at some point. She also gave me clindamycin antibiotic cream and it's been a week seems to be working. When I googled it the pictures were horrible (worse case I suppose) hate to hear anyone having to deal with it but glad I am not the only one...

Nanci ~ I have had some relief during pregnancy. Just a few popped up a couple of months ago and then a small one two weeks ago. Mine are definitely a hormone thing. I wish yours would go away, too. I couldn't see them to do anything about them if they popped up now.

OH MY! I never knew my "boils" could be related to this PCOS. I have had 6 lanced and drained. I constantly have little ones all over. I have been taking glucophage and aldactone and now my face breaks out more than it ever has! What else can be done about this?

I get them too on the top of my inner thighs. They usually go away on their own (leaving a lovely purple mark) but I've got one at the moment which I made the mistake of giving a little squeeze when I first noticed it. It now absolutely kills. I can barely walk. I'm off now to put a wad of cotton wool and bandages around my leg in the hope that I can ease the chafing a bit.

Thanks PCOS!

I was really hopeing that the pictures were gonna look like what I have. Mine seem to tunnel and start out looking like black heads then flare up into boil like sores that seem to take forever to heal and are very painfull. Alot of the ones I have seem to last forever The one on my breast I know has been there for about 4 years its not large anymore but is purple and has puss come out of it about twice a week and its like a tunnel maybe this is tmi but wanted to know if anyone elses tunnels and comes back. Doc put me on an antibiotic which worked while I was on it for a month but as soon as I came off it they reappeared. I also have them anywhere I have skin to skin contact , underarms , groin, belly, waist line etc... Dermatologist said it was something totally different and said only thing I could do for it was lose weight well If I could I would DUHHHHHH anyway lemmie know if anyone else has the tunneling ones and what was done for them.

When there are tunnels - it is considered second degree.

I have them - definetly related to hormones, and I have heard that there is a tie in to the insulin resistance.

I have one under each arm that drain frequently - and an occasional out burst on my upper thighs/groin - these are not as frequent as they used to be. I have also learned not to squeeze them when they are small - I usually use something like Tea Tree Oil to dry it out - if I mess with them when they are small - they will get huge and painful!
