Question High blood pressure and birth control

Hello -- sorry if this is not the correct place for this, but I am wondering what kind of options are available for me. I'm going to the doctor (first PCOS visit) but I would like to get some birth control, also. I had thought that since i have very high blood pressure, Depo might be the way to go, but I have been reading all of the messages on this board that clearly state that Depo is evil. So, I'm wondering what else there is. I know Lunelle is similar to Depo, except it's monthly. Does anyone have experience with that? Are there birth control pills that are ok for high blood pressure? I'd rather not have something like an IUD.

Who has high blood pressure, and what kind of birth control are you taking?

Thanks!

Default hi scrumpy

hi scrumpy,
were you on bcp's and water pills before you were diagnosed with PCOS, or were you just prescribed that stuff?

i have done a little bit of reading and it seems like the lower dosage bcp's are not as bad for high blood pressure. i am hoping that's the case -- hopefully i will walk out of the gyn's office on friday with a scrip for bcp and some sort of diuretic (i was on hctz a few years ago and foolishly stopped taking it).

it is silly to think that i would walk out with a scrip for those two things on friday?

thanks

Default thanks!

i have been doing some reading up on mircette and they don't say to avoid it if you've got high blood pressure, so that gives me so much hope. i don't mind having to take a bcp and something for my blood pressure.

thanks so much for the info! i am very appreciative

:p
