I am now on my third round of Clomid this month. I am at 150mg. I am also on Met 1500mg. Any way, the last 2 rounds did not have much of an effect on me. I am anovulatory. My FSH level is high. Last time checked it was 56. What does this mean for me as far as getting pregnant? Is there anyone out there who has a high FSH level like myself? Is there anything I can do to lower my FSH level and if so, will I benefit from it? Is there anyone out there with a high FSH level who has been successful in becoming pregnant? Please help.
The following website has information on hormone levels. http://www.fertilityplus.org/faq/hormonelevels.html
I have taken Clomid in the pass, I took it 50mg Clomid last month, however the follicle did not release by itself. My doctor prefers to use Femara/Letrozole so I have been switched to Femara for this month.
At this point I don't know what my FSH and other hormone levels are, I will post as soon as I get the information from my labs. I will post any information that I find.
Thanks, Pearls.
I know about the levels as far as the fact that my FSH is very high. But I don't know exactly what that means for me as far as my chances of conceiving and giving birth to a healthy baby. I am just trying to find someone else with the same situation. I am 31, not IR, not overweight. I do have the thinning hair, facial hair and acne. Since I am anovulary, I am wondering about the eggs being healthy. I have read about this online with most articles stating that my chances are okay, but also read some stating that chances are not good. I am looking for someone with personal experience to relate to. I am anxiously awaiting input. Thank you.
High FSH indicates diminished ovarian reserve. The higher your FSH, the lower your odds of responding to treatment or becoming pregnant. I am almost stunned to hear of a doctor going with clomid in such a case.
Has your FSH always been high?
Has your doctor brought up the possibility of premature ovarian failure?
Have you done a clomid challenge test? This is where you have FSH checked on day 3, take clomid, and have levels checked again on day 10. The FSH should be lower on day 10. If they are higher on day 10 than day 3, it indicates poor chances with the treatment - I think this gives you a little more information than just one number.
I would seriously find a new doctor at this point if I were you. I think that if this is going to work for you at all you need to be pursuing much more aggressive treatment and I am afraid that even then the odds may not be good. You may even be told to consider donor eggs.
I don't claim to be an expert... this is just based on things I have read and I have read a LOT. Find a new doctor!!! He or she can tell you more.

Thank you for the information Runnerduck. I have also read similar information recently. I will see my doctor on Tuesday and will bring this up to him. He is a fertility doctor and I would hope that he is not just stringing me along for his own benefit. I would hope that he would be honest with me from the beginning. Why keep making me try things that aren't going to work. Every time something doesn't work will just make it harder for me. I wish that if this is the case for me, he would just tell me so I can move on instead of failing a number of times and going through the whole emotional thing over and over again. I just have to wait until Tuesday when I see him and I will go from there. I am still looking for someone with the same and/or similar situation. Thanks all.
