hey i have been diagnosed with high liver enzymes and i was wondering if any others cysters are in the same situation. I was diagnosed with it about 10 yrs ago but right after that i had my gallbladder out and that was thought to be the cause. Recently i had blood work done and it said that they were either high again or still high, I dont know if this is normal for us cysters or is it something i should worry about. I have also been diagnosed with high levels of protein in my urine with is an early sign of kidney failure but i dont have the "normal" cause for it so they dont know why this is happening to me, the common causes for this are diabetes and high blood pressure and i dont have either., if there is anyone else in a similar situation please let me know how ur dealing. i am going for an ultra sound on friday maybe that will tell me something, thanks for reading. sorry if i rambled.

I had a bunch of blood work done to determine why I was not having peroids. One of the tests turned up high liver enzymes. I was sent for more blood work and a liver ultrasound and the medical professionals have just dropped it. I don't know if it was resolved or they just stopped caring - great docs huh? Anyway, I will ask my doc about it when I go in and if he has anything helpful to say I will pass it on.
My liver enzymes were slightly elevated and I went for an ultrasound. I have fatty liver and it's very common in pcos. I just have to watch my diet and exercise and it seems to be keeping it in check.

I seem to have spent most of this year at the 3 specialists so I hope this helps??
I was tested for 3yrs for diabetes and nothing showed but I always knew something was wrong. Well I have IR, not Type II, with that usually comes PCOS, and with the IR can come a "fatty liver", not from your diet but something to do with insulin and hormones-see its all related. I came off of BC in Jan'08 and that's how alot of this was discovered (not the IR). I have had 2 MRI's and CT's with & without contrast and seen a liver specialist who is not concerned but is watching it.
Thanks for the comments, i was thinking the liver thing was a pcos symptom but i wasnt sure and i know i have had it for years. now i just have to figure out the kidney thing, i have a ultra sound scheduled for tomorrow maybe that will shed some light. thanks again.

Hi Judybaby - I share your concern. It is so scary to get all these test results back and have so many aspects to think about that cause you worry. Fitting all the pieces together and learning their cause can be overwhelming. When I got diagnosed my liver ALTS where through the roof! I had my gallbladder tested as well, and though I have polyps they are not making any moves to remove it right now. My recent blood tests have shown that my ALTS are now normal, most likely from the met and it's impact on my I.R. levels. Good luck and hang in there!
When my husband I went to the fertility doctor we had mandatory blood tests done. Aids, syphylsis(sp) hep c and hep b. Well my liver enzymes came back elevated and I tested positive for hep c. I completed a year long treatment of interferone(used to treat malignant melanoma but in a higher dose) and a anti-viral called ribiviran. It was a horrible treatment but my viral load became undetectable. Three years later I had my liver enzymes checked and they were elevated again, a sign that my hep c was back. My doctor ordered a viral load test and I came back still undectable. Thank god. He said that it could be that I just had a fatty liver. I have my viral load tested every year. It is a 800$ blood test but since my liver enzymes are always elevated it is a test that is medically nessacary. Thank god for insurance!!!! So if you think that maybe you have been exposed to hep c I would definately get tested. It may just be the reason why your liver enzymes are elevated. Better to be safe than sorry.

From what I've read excess estrogen is broken down by the liver. So, when you're estrogen dominant like us ladies with PCOS it sort-of puts the liver into over drive and your blood work will show elevated liver enzymes.
