Default High Prolactin?

Hello everyone. I was recently diagnosed with PCOS.. for the second time. Doctors have been up and down about it, but seems like they're sure about it now. My prolactin was up.. and it sounded like it was pretty high. She says this can be from breast stimulation[showers, ect], but I'm not sure what it can be from. I know it can be from some sort of tumor, but I was wondering if anyone has, or knows about this problem? Thanks!

The way I understand it, high prolactin can be common in PCOS women due to problems controlling hormones. I had it and went to a regular endocrinologist for treatment. She had me get an MRI to rule out a prolactinoma (small tumor in the pituitary gland) and then put me on a medication called Dostinex (generic is Cabergoline). The medication got my prolactin levels under control. She then figured out I also had PCOS and referred me to a reproductive endocrinologist b/c I was TTC. Anyway, hope this helps! Good luck!

Are you seeing a regular endocrinologist yet? If not, you may need to go to one for treatment. My PCP was the one who first noticed the high prolactin level and she referred me to the endo. Now she did have me do some repeat bloodwork first to confirm that the first test wasn't a fluke. Did they tell you what the next step is?

I too had high prolactin levels when I had blood work done. They sent me for an MRI and found a small tumor on my pituitary gland, but they said it was very small and not to worry about it. They didnt even refer me to an endo or anything.

I have seen one quite awhile ago.. the guy didn't help much and was very rude. I have to take another blood test in about a week. I have to have 48 hours with NO breast stimulation. Lol. The problem is, I have big boobs. They giggle and they wiggle like no other. I'm gonna have to tape em down!
