Default High Protein Breakfast without Eggs?

Whats everyone's reccomendations for a high protein/lowish carb breakfast that doesnt involve eggs? Im severly allergic to eggs but I do so much better on a low carb than anything carby in the mornings.

I'm on the G.I Diet, so I can't suggest anything 'carb-free' or 'low-carb', as I've never done IR DIet or Atkins or anything...

But how about some low-fat/non-fat cottage cheese and some chopped fruit?

Or a bannana (I'm not allowed them on my diet yet, but you might be able to), smeared with some all-natural peanut butter, or sprinkled with some almonds?

Or even chopped fruit/bannana, with some nuts and some skim, or soy milk?

Hope this helps!

I usually have a spinach salad with diced chicken breast (or tuna), cucumbers, radishes, whatever veggies I have handy. Instead of dressing I use salsa.

That sounds like a great lunch, but I couldn't do it for breakfast. I can do cold pizza, but that's about it.

What about making up some sausage and cheese muffins with whole wheat flour? You can use a low fat sausage and they are portable.

Or breakfast burritos with tofu scrambles and a really tasty salsa?

i'm a big fan of smoothies. i use fruit and protein powder in mine, but milk and peanut butter are good things to add instead if you don't like the idea of using protein powder. hope this helps!

Greek style yogurt has a fair amount of protein. Any kind of breakfast meat...I usually stick with turkey versions like turkey bacon, turkey sausage, turkey canadian bacon. Also cottage cheese has a lot of protein. I also like those string cheese snacks - Sargento is my favorite b/c it actually tastes like cheese and not "cheese product". Good luck

all brain with a little soy or skim milk. I get vanilla soy because it weetens up the "wood chips" for me.

Breakfast I typically have ezekial bread with cream cheese or peanut butter with an egg but you cant eat eggs. I would substitute it with a rolled up piece of ham or turkey lunch meat or some nuts. I also like atkins advantage chocolate, vanilla and strawberry shakes

I do a vanilla soy protein powder from GNC with a cup of regular soy milk, blended. It tastes pretty good and is quick and easy. Keeps me full until my morning snack. There are carbs in the milk and the powder, but I think it's only 10 or so total and you get like 26 grams of protein.

Bacon and ham and homemade sausage w/out sugar...

I'm doing Atkins if you can't tell...

how about a stir fry with onions and peppers and tofu?

Is there a particular 'brand' of diet you are following or a goal level of carbs?

Here is a link to the recipe section on the www.lowcarbfriends.com board, it might have something that you like

That sounds close to what I eat many mornings...

Im not really following a diet per say, just trying to eat low carb. I really do have to avoid tofu and soy due to my thyroid issues so those are out. I might try to make my own sausage though. Ive also been toying with salad for breakfasts.

sorry about suggesting tofu, I didn't notice your comment until later My bad!

If you would like, and I'm sure it is better posted somewhere else, here is my recipe for sausage....

1# ground turkey or pork
1 tsp ground sage
1 tsp thyme
1/4 tsp cayenne (+/- for taste)
salt & pepper to taste
sometimes some fresh rosemary (the dry is to crunchy)

mix it all together in a bowl, then shape into patties. I fry mine all up at once so I only have to reheat them and don't have to make a mess in the a.m. cooking. You can freeze them up too

turkey sausages are great...not to mention, cottage cheese, feta cheeses, and a host of other delicious cheeses can add protein to your breakfast.

I eat a lot of turkey sausage and turkey bacon too. Its low fat and high protein. Also, have you considered drinking a boost or Ensure for breakfast. I drink a Chocolate Boost, High Protein, drink every morning. chocolate are the only ones that I think taste good. I think ensure is gross, but some people prefer it to Boost.
