High TSH AND High T4? I think it quite possible that I have PCOS - I plan to try to get in with an endo soon, but things are a little tight, so have to wait til I have the copay!
Anyway, I was diagnosed back in early September with hypothyroidism. Then, my doc called me, told me I was hypo, and Rxed me levothyroxine. I wasn't in her office, so I didn't get to ask for lab results. I saw her for my follow-up today to get blood drawn again and see how the meds are working, and got a copy of my lab results. Here they are:
TSH 5.371 uIU/ml (Limits [doc says this mean this is normal range]: .45-4.5
Thyroxine (T4) 13.9 ug/dL (Limits: 4.5-12)
T3 Uptake 20 % (Limits: 24-39)
Free Thyroxine Index 2.8 (only normal result) (Limits: 1.2-4.9)
Also, my glucose is very slightly elevated at 108 mg/dL (Limits: 65-99) - Thought this might be relevant to my suspicion I might have PCOS. Doc doesn't seem worried about it at all.
I also noticed that it said at the top of the lab results that I was NOT fasting - I actually was. Don't know what difference that makes.
Now - if the lab results are accurate - both my TSH and T4 are high, which, from what I've read, is really odd and sometimes indicative of a pituitary issue. Anyone have any insight until I can get to the endo? Thanks! |
