Hii!! Newbie from AL

Hello everyone! My name is Kristina and I was just recently diagnose with PCOS.

I'm 19 but I've had the symptoms since I was 13.
It's amazing how some doctors just don't care it seems. The first time I ever visited a gyno with my issues (no periods at all for months) all he did was give me bc and send me on my way. After I stopped taking bc, my periods stopped again and I started gaining more weight than I was before. I've always had extra hair growth, and risons under my arms and on my inner thighs (which I know now is caused bc PCOS. I was tired of not getting answers from my first doctor, so I went to a new gyno who specializes in hormon imbalances, infertitly, etc, and he is amazing. He knew exactly what was causing my problems once I told him all about my symptoms. So now he put me on Yasmin and Metformin, which I start tomorrow.

I'm so glad to have found a website where I can go and have encouragement. My family and fiance are supportive, but I'm glad to have people who share what I'm feeling with. I look foward to talking to everyone and making friends.

Hi! I thought I would chime in. I'm a newbie too, and also from Alabama. I have suspected I had PCOS for over 10 years, but just recently was officially diagnosed. I'm on 1500 fortamet extended release and will be increasing up to 2000 next week.

I've enjoyed reading everyone's posts. This board is a wealth of information and I look forward to joining everyone.

i find with the met that if i avoid greasy/fatty/sugar foods as much as poss and always eat with met, i am ok with it.
