1 when hair is visible on your arms or legs, how many of you wear long sleeves w/ pants?
I always wear pants hate skirts but i shave so i feel comfortable with wearing skirts if need be and my arm hair is haved off to

2 how many people wear socks constantly to hide the hair around the ankle & toes & feet?
Do not wear socks only if i am wearing my trainers

3 does anyone wear turtlenecks/scarves to hide hair on the chest or neck?
In the winter i wear scarfs alot if i cannot be bothered to shave

4 or comb your hair around your face so that sideburns arent visible.
Nope

5 if you cant wax, nair or pluck for a few days, do you give in to the urge to shave? (actually i heard plucking is worse and shaving is better but i feel safer plucking for some odd reason)
I shave always i used to pluck and then use the creams but i feel shaving is quicker now

6 favourite method of hair removal (besides laser/electrolysis but if youre on it PRAY TELL how its working for you and how long it took to complete the treatments) here are some preferences: sugaring, waxing, threading, plucking, shaving, finishing touch/electronic hair removal blades, nair/cream. also please recommend brands, types, and pros of cons of the ones you like or dislike very strongly.
Love shaving hate waxing

7 does anyone else get knicked from shaving their arms or toes or feet?
Nope

8 whats the strangest place that you have to remove hair? i dont know if its strange but my fingers...i actually woulda said the tops of my feet or a couple other things except that i saw some people who said they too have to remove the hair from there.
My toes i use small scissors to trim the little black hairs

9 HOW on EARTH do you get rid of all that tiny black stubble? the kind that looks like pores in your arms or wherever you remove it from? the ones that when you shave or whatever its still there! my legs even kinda look like that bcuz im so pale and then i got these li'l dots except on my legs its pores, on my arms its hair. anyone got any ideas?
I have no idea i have this problem to

10 anyone tried those hair buffers by con-air or any of that kinda stuff? the ones where you replace those pads on it? like a microderm abrasion kit?
Nope

11 WHAT IS A FACIAL HAIR BUFFER? they have those facial hair buffers at the stores but i dont know if they really work like they say they do and HOW do they work? thats why im hesitant to buy it.
N/A

12 anyone had any luck w/ the facial hair buffer, hair off mitten, or the Sally Hansen hair removal kit that includes the "hair wand"??? i dont know what the hair wand is but its called something like that i think, i cant remember but i was and am tempted to try it except that i think its probably going to be something like nair in a tube, or "wand". i just wanna know what it is!
Nope

13 favourite method? most effective? least favourite? least effective? please give details as to why, if you can. i.e. the smell, the residue, painful/leaves burns, too much preparation time/doesnt remove small/long hairs effectively, doesnt remove hair as its supposed to, etc.
The cream i used for years but after a while it started to burn i used to pluck but it takes ages to get them all and hurts like hell

14 how does hirsutism affect your love/social/sex life? and on a scale of 0-10 (or OFF THE SCALE!!!) how would you say that the hirsutism affects your self-esteem/self-worth?
I have to shave nearly everyday so i know i will feel alot more confident my partner does not even notice it scale 6

15 does your partner know you have hair? do you cover/remove it and try to keep it flawless all the time or do you sometimes let it go for a bit?
Yeah he knows we shave together lol

16 does hirsutism cause a less-fullfilling sex life?
Nope not for me *chuckle*

17 have you come to accept the problem or do you constantly find yourself wondering how things would be different if you DIDNT have it? does it cause a constant state of depression/loss of control?
Sometimes it does i mean when i see people on the tv with no hair i wish i was like that at times but i have grown to accept it a bit

18 does the cold seem to make hair growth worse?
Not sure

19 pros & cons of your favourite method/least favourite method. i know ive put this a few times on here probably but i figure that different products may be listed on different areas so you dont have to answer this if you have already and youre going to say the same thing you already said...lol bcuz i dont wanna be a hassle BUT this is more for the last words on any product that is worth knowing about.
I swear by the new Gilette Fusion razor it is fantastic

1 when hair is visible on your arms or legs, how many of you wear long sleeves w/ pants?
- I don't worry about this, although I used to wear long sleeves when I was younger and didn't shave my arms.

2 how many people wear socks constantly to hide the hair around the ankle & toes & feet?
Hee hee, I never wear socks.

3 does anyone wear turtlenecks/scarves to hide hair on the chest or neck?
No, I shave those areas. I'd be afraid a turtleneck/scarf might rub and irritate my poor abused skin even more!

4 or comb your hair around your face so that sideburns arent visible.
I used to do this, in my teens/early 20s, when I had sideburns but didn't have hair on my jaw/cheeks yet. Now I shave the 'burns along with the rest of my face.

5 if you cant wax, nair or pluck for a few days, do you give in to the urge to shave? (actually i heard plucking is worse and shaving is better but i feel safer plucking for some odd reason)
I shave my face everyday.

I use different methods for different parts of my body. I wish I could get laser (face), but I'd be too embarrassed of any comments they might make! Nobody knows how bad my problem is except myself. Sooo... I shave my face (daily), epilate my legs/bikini area/belly trail (weekly), and shave pretty much everything else on my body, usually only weekly though. Arms, underarms, chest, lower back/behind. I use my trusty Tweezerman tweezers for those pesky hairs around the nipple, and the occasional long hair I'll find on my upper back, and toe hairs. For shaving, I use a Venus; my epilator of choice is the Emjoi Optima. I looooooove it, and am getting up the courage to start using that on my underarms.

7 does anyone else get knicked from shaving their arms or toes or feet?
Sometimes I nick that little round bone at the wrist...

8 whats the strangest place that you have to remove hair?
It's all pretty strange unfortunately

9 HOW on EARTH do you get rid of all that tiny black stubble? the kind that looks like pores in your arms or wherever you remove it from? the ones that when you shave or whatever its still there!
I'm super pale with very dark hair so I have this problem too. I epilate my legs and that pulls the hair out by the root, so I don't have to worry about it there- for the face, well, MAC is my best friend I guess.

10 anyone tried those hair buffers by con-air or any of that kinda stuff? the ones where you replace those pads on it? like a microderm abrasion kit?
No, stuff like that never works.

11 WHAT IS A FACIAL HAIR BUFFER? they have those facial hair buffers at the stores but i dont know if they really work like they say they do and HOW do they work? thats why im hesitant to buy it.
See my last answer...

12 anyone had any luck w/ the facial hair buffer, hair off mitten, or the Sally Hansen hair removal kit that includes the "hair wand"???
See above... lol.

13 favourite method? most effective? least favourite? least effective? please give details as to why, if you can. i.e. the smell, the residue, painful/leaves burns, too much preparation time/doesnt remove small/long hairs effectively, doesnt remove hair as its supposed to, etc.
I'm not into waxing because it's so messy and doesn't work well for me. This is just the at-home method though, I've never had it professionally done, seems expensive! I hate shaving because it irritates my skin but it's fast and effective. Plucking causes no pain for me whatsoever, but it's so time consuming that it's totally inefficient for most of my very hairy self. I guess epilating is my favorite method, but it's a bit painful in some areas (upper legs/thighs).

14 how does hirsutism affect your love/social/sex life? and on a scale of 0-10 (or OFF THE SCALE!!!) how would you say that the hirsutism affects your self-esteem/self-worth?
Nowadays, not so much. But previously? As a teen, particularly my early teens when I didn't do anything about my moustache, I was ridiculed and an outcast. It still affects me somewhat- I often feel like Cinderella, only a certain amount of time (daily) before my coach turns back into a pumpkin

15 does your partner know you have hair? do you cover/remove it and try to keep it flawless all the time or do you sometimes let it go for a bit?
I do my best to keep it flawless when we're together. He knows I'm hairy, I complain about it often enough, but hopefully he hasn't noticed my face. Lately I've been handing him my tweezers and letting him pluck my back hairs though So maybe this won't be so bad!

16 does hirsutism cause a less-fullfilling sex life?
Not directly. I'd feel more attractive if I didn't have bumps and ingrowns from hair removal though.

17 have you come to accept the problem or do you constantly find yourself wondering how things would be different if you DIDNT have it? does it cause a constant state of depression/loss of control?
I accept the problem and rarely imagine life without it, because I've had it since... about the age of 10. I've never known life without being extra fuzzy (and generally picked on for it).

18 does the cold seem to make hair growth worse?
Hee hee, I assume you're talking about how goosebumps stick the hair up?

19 pros & cons of your favourite method/least favourite method. i know ive put this a few times on here probably but i figure that different products may be listed on different areas so you dont have to answer this if you have already and youre going to say the same thing you already said...lol bcuz i dont wanna be a hassle BUT this is more for the last words on any product that is worth knowing about.
I'm at work and need to submit my reply- I'll come back and answer this last one later

1 when hair is visible on your arms or legs, how many of you wear long sleeves w/ pants?
Well... The hair on my arms isn't too bad, so it's not so bad that I have to shave. Now my legs, I don't think I wore shorts/skirts/dresses too much last summer b/c I HATE shaving everyday!

2 how many people wear socks constantly to hide the hair around the ankle & toes & feet?
Not me! I just quickly run the razor over my toes and my flip flops are ready to be worn! (Those hairs don't grow back too quick!) Ankles and feet don't have too much hair

3 does anyone wear turtlenecks/scarves to hide hair on the chest or neck?
Nope, not too much hair to have to hide it. Just a couple piglet hairs.

4 or comb your hair around your face so that sideburns arent visible.
Nope, those hairs get the "clippers"!

5 if you cant wax, nair or pluck for a few days, do you give in to the urge to shave? (actually i heard plucking is worse and shaving is better but i feel safer plucking for some odd reason)
Nope, I will just go that day until I remember to wax again. I will shave for a quick fix though.

OMG!!! I totally LOVE and SWEAR by Avon's waxing kit!
Pros: It's quick and works VERY well!
Cons: Doesn't work too well if the wax is too hot or too cool.

7 does anyone else get knicked from shaving their arms or toes or feet?
Definitely on the toes and legs! And face.

8 whats the strangest place that you have to remove hair? i dont know if its strange but my fingers...i actually woulda said the tops of my feet or a couple other things except that i saw some people who said they too have to remove the hair from there.
My heiny.

I don't know. I can't figure it out for the LIFE of me! When you find out please tell me!

10 anyone tried those hair buffers by con-air or any of that kinda stuff? the ones where you replace those pads on it? like a microderm abrasion kit?
Nope.

11 WHAT IS A FACIAL HAIR BUFFER? they have those facial hair buffers at the stores but i dont know if they really work like they say they do and HOW do they work? thats why im hesitant to buy it.
Don't know.

Nope... Tried some of Sally Hansen's GARBAGE and it didn't work!!

13 favourite method? most effective? least favourite? least effective? please give details as to why, if you can. i.e. the smell, the residue, painful/leaves burns, too much preparation time/doesnt remove small/long hairs effectively, doesnt remove hair as its supposed to, etc.
I tried Nair but it stinks and DOES NOT REMOVE THE ENTIRE HAIR SHAFT!! Atleast on me :-)

14 how does hirsutism affect your love/social/sex life? and on a scale of 0-10 (or OFF THE SCALE!!!) how would you say that the hirsutism affects your self-esteem/self-worth?
My Relationship:
My boyfriend is totally accepting and doesn't mind it at all! We actually joke w/ each other about it! LOL! So the sex life isn't an issue at all.
Social Life:
I always find myself watching people's eyes and hoping I don't meet anyone one those days I don't shave.

15 does your partner know you have hair? do you cover/remove it and try to keep it flawless all the time or do you sometimes let it go for a bit?
He sure does and from what I can tell, he doesn't mind!

16 does hirsutism cause a less-fullfilling sex life?
I think that if I weren't with the guy I'm with now that it would be.

17 have you come to accept the problem or do you constantly find yourself wondering how things would be different if you DIDNT have it? does it cause a constant state of depression/loss of control?
Both. Sometimes I'm just like W/E! But others I allow myself to slip into a self pity party

18 does the cold seem to make hair growth worse?
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've already answered this question... Please see number 6!

1 when hair is visible on your arms or legs, how many of you wear long sleeves w/ pants? I only wear pants in the winter time...I always shave if the hair on my legs look too bad but I never shave my arms and don't care how they look.

2 how many people wear socks constantly to hide the hair around the ankle & toes & feet? I don't

3 does anyone wear turtlenecks/scarves to hide hair on the chest or neck? I don't

4 or comb your hair around your face so that sideburns arent visible. I do this when I haven't shaved and need to. My sideburns grow long and down my face.

5 if you cant wax, nair or pluck for a few days, do you give in to the urge to shave? (actually i heard plucking is worse and shaving is better but i feel safer plucking for some odd reason) I always shave

I shave and looking for a new technique to get rid of the hair.

7 does anyone else get knicked from shaving their arms or toes or feet? Yes

8 whats the strangest place that you have to remove hair? i dont know if its strange but my fingers...i actually woulda said the tops of my feet or a couple other things except that i saw some people who said they too have to remove the hair from there. No

13 favourite method? most effective? least favourite? least effective? please give details as to why, if you can. i.e. the smell, the residue, painful/leaves burns, too much preparation time/doesnt remove small/long hairs effectively, doesnt remove hair as its supposed to, etc. Don't have one as of right know. I'm starting to sound like I dont have any answers to offer you.

14 how does hirsutism affect your love/social/sex life? and on a scale of 0-10 (or OFF THE SCALE!!!) how would you say that the hirsutism affects your self-esteem/self-worth? This is the only thing I am insecure about. It affects my whole life.

15 does your partner know you have hair? do you cover/remove it and try to keep it flawless all the time or do you sometimes let it go for a bit? Yes and I try to cover it up all the time.

16 does hirsutism cause a less-fullfilling sex life? No

17 have you come to accept the problem or do you constantly find yourself wondering how things would be different if you DIDNT have it? does it cause a constant state of depression/loss of control? I don't think I will ever be able to accept it. I often wonder how would life be without PCOS. I get depressed from time to time but I try and keep my head up.

18 does the cold seem to make hair growth worse? Not that I have seen

1 when hair is visible on your arms or legs, how many of you wear long sleeves w/ pants? I have been shaving my arms and legs for so long, I don't even know what the hair on them looks like, I have noticed a little extra on my upper arms lately, but I just shave it off.

2 how many people wear socks constantly to hide the hair around the ankle & toes & feet? I do seem to have a little extra hair on my toes and feet, but I just shave it off when I shave my legs, so it's no biggie.

3 does anyone wear turtlenecks/scarves to hide hair on the chest or neck? I don't have extra hair on my chest or neck.

4 or comb your hair around your face so that sideburns arent visible. No sideburns either. But I do have some hair growth on my face, luckily for now it is thin and blonde, so all I do is either pluck it, or apply my make-up differently so it kind of helps cover the hair, instead of making it look worse (like most powders do).

5 if you cant wax, nair or pluck for a few days, do you give in to the urge to shave? (actually i heard plucking is worse and shaving is better but i feel safer plucking for some odd reason) I already shave, with the exception of my eyebrows.

I shave my arms and legs. I get my eyebrows threaded, I go to this great place in Los Angeles, where they specialize in threading. They are super quick, and pretty inexpensive. I have only gotten my eyebrows done there (and they come out amazing), but I know they do almost every body part you can think of. The great thing about threading is that you get the same effect as waxing, without the red burning rash that you get after wax, I'll never go back!! Here's their website, they have locations throughout southern CA... www.zibabeauty.com

7 does anyone else get knicked from shaving their arms or toes or feet? LOL, by the amount of times I cut myself shaving, you would think I had just started shaving last week! I think I shave too quickly, and I need to use new razors more often, I tend to use them for too long, then they get dull, and I cut myself more! (Especially around my ankles and toes!)

8 whats the strangest place that you have to remove hair? i dont know if its strange but my fingers...i actually woulda said the tops of my feet or a couple other things except that i saw some people who said they too have to remove the hair from there. I think that the only somewhat srange places I have to remove hair would be my fingers and my toes.

My hair is pretty light, so I can go for a while with hair, and you don't see anything.

10 anyone tried those hair buffers by con-air or any of that kinda stuff? the ones where you replace those pads on it? like a microderm abrasion kit? Nope, sorry.

11 WHAT IS A FACIAL HAIR BUFFER? they have those facial hair buffers at the stores but i dont know if they really work like they say they do and HOW do they work? thats why im hesitant to buy it. I don't know... sorry!

Nope, sorry.

13 favourite method? most effective? least favourite? least effective? please give details as to why, if you can. i.e. the smell, the residue, painful/leaves burns, too much preparation time/doesnt remove small/long hairs effectively, doesnt remove hair as its supposed to, etc. Once again, I only shave and thread. I'm not a huge fan of shaving, but it's easy and convenient for me. Threading is amazing because of the great results without the red after-rash that you get with waxing! I'm thinking about trying this "magic powder" that everyone is talking about!

14 how does hirsutism affect your love/social/sex life? and on a scale of 0-10 (or OFF THE SCALE!!!) how would you say that the hirsutism affects your self-esteem/self-worth? I'm not sure if acne and hair loss are considered hirsutism, but they both probably affect my life at the level of 7 to 8. I basically have the the acne on my face, somewhat under control, it's the acne on my back that is terrible! I am going to Hawaii in a few months, and I'm worried I won't be able to wear any tanks or a bathing suit because my back looks so bad! My hair falling out has really hit me hard, I used to have such thick and gorgeous hair, and now it's down to nothing, just thin and straggly looking, so my self-esteem has gone way down!

15 does your partner know you have hair? do you cover/remove it and try to keep it flawless all the time or do you sometimes let it go for a bit? LOL, my poor husband, I am so terrible about keeping up with the hair, especially on my ankles and toes, he doesn't say anything about it, but I'm sure he sees it!

16 does hirsutism cause a less-fullfilling sex life? Not really.

17 have you come to accept the problem or do you constantly find yourself wondering how things would be different if you DIDNT have it? does it cause a constant state of depression/loss of control? Most of my symptoms are new, I just got most of them within the last year, so yes, I am still kind of in "shock" wondering what it would be like if this never happened, but I'm getting better, I know that no amount of sitting around feeling sorry for myself will help, so I get out there and enjoy what I can!

18 does the cold seem to make hair growth worse? Not that I have noticed.

Once again, I cannot praise threading enough! I used to wax, and I was "allergic" to it (I later came to find out that most people get some sort of reaction to the wax.) My friend introduced me to threading, you are red for a little bit, just like with tweezing, but you get the results of waxing! It is quick and pretty painless! Where I go, it is pretty inexpensive too! There are threading places all over, I have only tried Zibas, so I can't vouch for other salons, I do know that a friend of mine tried going to a small nail salon once, and they did a terrible job! So, go look at their location, and if possible, look at some pictures of their work! I hope this helps!

1 when hair is visible on your arms or legs, how many of you wear long sleeves w/ pants?
haha. not really. only if i have to actually look nice and couldn't shave for some reason. i just recently started shaving my arms, so everybody knows i have hairy arms anyway, and mine certainly certainly aren't the worse case i've seen. i have no problem wearing shorts when i don't shave my legs either because just about everybody would have hairy legs if they didn't shave, and, once again, i've seen much hairier legs than my own.
2 how many people wear socks constantly to hide the hair around the ankle & toes & feet?
i just shave those things. plus, foot and toe hair is fairly common i think. alot of girls i know shave their foot and toe hair off.

3 does anyone wear turtlenecks/scarves to hide hair on the chest or neck?
if i get really bad razorburn on my chest and have to take a break for a few days. otherwise, shaving my chest is just a daily thing i do in the shower and you'd never even know i have chest hair after i shave.

4 or comb your hair around your face so that sideburns arent visible.
i pluck my sideburns everyday, but i still don't like to wear my hair up because i'm scared people may notice the two weird bald spots on the sides of my face.

5 if you cant wax, nair or pluck for a few days, do you give in to the urge to shave? (actually i heard plucking is worse and shaving is better but i feel safer plucking for some odd reason) i guess this applies to me...i epilate my legs and belly during the school year. (i hardly ever shave except on weekends during the school year simply because i don't give a ****, and so the hair has time to grow out) i just shave during the summer though because i don't feel like letting the hair grow out.

6 favourite method of hair removal (besides laser/electrolysis but if youre on it PRAY TELL how its working for you and how long it took to complete the treatments) here are some preferences: sugaring, waxing, threading, plucking, shaving, finishing touch/electronic hair removal blades, nair/cream. also please recommend brands, types, and pros of cons of the ones you like or dislike very strongly. i guess i don't really have a favorite. i do all sorts of things. the epilator is cool i guess. i can tell you my least favorite...nair/veet!!!! chemical burns, doesn't remove all the hair, etc.

7 does anyone else get knicked from shaving their arms or toes or feet? i always cut myself on my elbows and wrist bones. ouch ouch ouch.

8 whats the strangest place that you have to remove hair? i dont know if its strange but my fingers...i actually woulda said the tops of my feet or a couple other things except that i saw some people who said they too have to remove the hair from there.
titty hair. gross.

9 HOW on EARTH do you get rid of all that tiny black stubble? the kind that looks like pores in your arms or wherever you remove it from? the ones that when you shave or whatever its still there! my legs even kinda look like that bcuz im so pale and then i got these li'l dots except on my legs its pores, on my arms its hair. anyone got any ideas?
wax or epliate. it removes from the roots so there is no stubble.

10 anyone tried those hair buffers by con-air or any of that kinda stuff? the ones where you replace those pads on it? like a microderm abrasion kit? no...looks kinda sketch if you ask me.

11 WHAT IS A FACIAL HAIR BUFFER? they have those facial hair buffers at the stores but i dont know if they really work like they say they do and HOW do they work? thats why im hesitant to buy it.
like i said...sketch.

13 favourite method? most effective? least favourite? least effective? please give details as to why, if you can. i.e. the smell, the residue, painful/leaves burns, too much preparation time/doesnt remove small/long hairs effectively, doesnt remove hair as its supposed to, etc.
once again, no favorites really, and once again, **** nair/veet.

14 how does hirsutism affect your love/social/sex life? and on a scale of 0-10 (or OFF THE SCALE!!!) how would you say that the hirsutism affects your self-esteem/self-worth?
as for my love life, my boyfriend has no idea about the extent of my hairiness, and i don't intend on ever letting him know specifics. i remove it, so why should he? he's may have noticed my upper back hair simply because i don't do anything about that, but he doesn't seem to mind it if he has. i am nervous about getting married and living with someone though because i don't know how i'd hide the fact that i spend an hour plucking my face every morning. social life...i guess i don't really allow myself to go on trips with friends unless i know them very well and they are aware of my problem, or unless i will have an opportunity to pluck my face where they won't know. in terms of sex life, i guess kind of. i just make sure that any time i see my boyfriend i am fit to be seen naked, just in case. no sex period if for some reason i didn't have time to shave stuff, though.
15 does your partner know you have hair? do you cover/remove it and try to keep it flawless all the time or do you sometimes let it go for a bit? he knows i'm hairy because i complain about it alot, haha. he doesn't know specifics though, except my arms, maybe upper back if he's noticed, and belly (because i felt the need to explain weird looking chemical burns on my stomach from nair one time.) i keep the weird stuff flawless. legs and arms...he don't care, i don't care.

16 does hirsutism cause a less-fullfilling sex life?
sometimes, just because knowing all of the places i have to remove hair causes me to feel less "sexy" or "feminine," but most of the time i just remind myself that a) nobody has to know but me and b)there are probably things that he's self-concious about too even though i think he's perfect...and he tells me all the time that i am perfect and beautiful. we have fabulous sex.

17 have you come to accept the problem or do you constantly find yourself wondering how things would be different if you DIDNT have it? does it cause a constant state of depression/loss of control? yeah...all the time. i constantly think of how much easier everyday would be if i didn't have to do all this stupid hair removal. it can get really frustrating.

18 does the cold seem to make hair growth worse? actually, i've notcied that my leg hair seems to grow faster in the summer...

19 pros & cons of your favourite method/least favourite method. i know ive put this a few times on here probably but i figure that different products may be listed on different areas so you dont have to answer this if you have already and youre going to say the same thing you already said...lol bcuz i dont wanna be a hassle BUT this is more for the last words on any product that is worth knowing about.
same thing as before.

1 when hair is visible on your arms or legs, how many of you wear long sleeves w/ pants?
if they're visible on my legs always. as for the arms, i got used to them. i have them since i was a teenager. i wax em but when they grow back and when i'm out i think about them.

2 how many people wear socks constantly to hide the hair around the ankle & toes & feet?
i always shave that part to avoid the problem

3 does anyone wear turtlenecks/scarves to hide hair on the chest or neck?
yep. wore scarves a lot. even when it was hot.

4 or comb your hair around your face so that sideburns arent visible.
not really. even though i was always teased about my sideburns....

5 if you cant wax, nair or pluck for a few days, do you give in to the urge to shave?
yes. i just shave it off. seems like a faster way to do it.

6 favourite method of hair removal
i've only tried shaving, plucking and waxing. i'd have to say plucking. in a weird addictive way its fun. i'd like to try sugaring. i hear it great.

7 does anyone else get knicked from shaving their arms or toes or feet?
i'm not quite sure what does ''getting knicked'' mean.

8 whats the strangest place that you have to remove hair?
MY NIPPLES!

9 HOW on EARTH do you get rid of all that tiny black stubble?
havent found a way.

10 anyone tried those hair buffers by con-air or any of that kinda stuff? the ones where you replace those pads on it? like a microderm abrasion kit?
no

11 WHAT IS A FACIAL HAIR BUFFER?
dunno

12 anyone had any luck w/ the facial hair buffer, hair off mitten, or the Sally Hansen hair removal kit that includes the "hair wand"??? ...
havent tried

13 favourite method? most effective? least favourite? least effective?
N/A

14 how does hirsutism affect your love/social/sex life? and on a scale of 0-10 (or OFF THE SCALE!!!) how would you say that the hirsutism affects your self-esteem/self-worth?
as for my love life, havent had a longterm relationship ever. dont know if hirsutism has sth to do with it.
as for my sex life, i'm always thinking about my hairs when i'm doin it.it's always:''what if he touches me there and feels them?'' and if he does move his hand acroos a part i shaved (like me belly) ''does he feel it?yeah he feels it''. so it def affects it in a negative way.
there were periods when i was full of self-esteem but the the moment, i'm a 12.
as for my social life, i'm always wondering if ppl are looking at me and thinking:damn she has a lot of hairs!

15 does your partner know you have hair? do you cover/remove it and try to keep it flawless all the time or do you sometimes let it go for a bit?
dont have a partner

16 does hirsutism cause a less-fullfilling sex life?
i believe it does...well, at least in ''casual'' sex.

17 have you come to accept the problem or do you constantly find yourself wondering how things would be different if you DIDNT have it? does it cause a constant state of depression/loss of control?
i always imagine how i'd look like and feel if i didnt have so much hair. somehow i belive i'd be a totally different person. so thats the answer to the last question-i think it does have a control over my ''state of mind''.

18 does the cold seem to make hair growth worse?
havent noticed.

19 pros & cons of your favourite method/least favourite method.
my fav so far is waxing. it keeps the hairs from growing for about 10 days. that would be the plus side. and the negative side is that it takes about 2 days for my skin to clam down so i'm filled with red dots and when it passes, i've only got about a week to enjoy my smooth skin.

1 when hair is visible on your arms or legs, how many of you wear long sleeves w/ pants? I used to not care about the hair on my arms until I got them waxed once before my prom, so now I do. I don't really wear long sleeves, but just get them waxed every 3-4 months as a bit of hair growth doesn't bother me. As for legs, yes I will wear pants unless I've shaved my legs, but I want to start waxing so I don't have to shave often.

2 how many people wear socks constantly to hide the hair around the ankle & toes & feet?
No hair on feet, few hairs on toes that I shave or tweeze.

3 does anyone wear turtlenecks/scarves to hide hair on the chest or neck?
I don't think I have a completely smooth chest but the hair on it can be ignored as its small and fine I suppose (albeit I do have sort of pale skin and dark hair).

4 or comb your hair around your face so that sideburns arent visible.
For the longest time, I wore my hair in a bun or ponytail but I didn't really care as having thick, bushy hair calls for straightening before wearing down (and I didn't have the patience for that). However recently, I have started wearing it down to cover them.

5 if you cant wax, nair or pluck for a few days, do you give in to the urge to shave? (actually i heard plucking is worse and shaving is better but i feel safer plucking for some odd reason)
No I've never shaved my facial hair because I'm scared that I might end up with a 5 o clock shadow. I usually wax my facial hair and tweeze the hair under my chin (but that has resulted in ingrown hair and hyperpigmentation so I guess my worries about the 5 oclock shadow should have been extended!)

Wax arms and face. Shave legs. Wanting to start waxing legs.

7 does anyone else get knicked from shaving their arms or toes or feet?
N/A

8 whats the strangest place that you have to remove hair? i dont know if its strange but my fingers...i actually woulda said the tops of my feet or a couple other things except that i saw some people who said they too have to remove the hair from there.
Definately under my chin. Especially because its thick beard hair. That makes it super weird.

Nope, wondering the same thing. One of the reason I want to shift to waxing my legs.

No idea.

No idea again.

13 favourite method? most effective? least favourite? least effective? please give details as to why, if you can. i.e. the smell, the residue, painful/leaves burns, too much preparation time/doesnt remove small/long hairs effectively, doesnt remove hair as its supposed to, etc.

Tried NAIR....sucked because it smelled like crazy and was just like a bad shave of your hair. Also, hair grew back thicker.

Waxing is not the most comfortable (in fact, one might grow tolerant to it over a long period of time), but its effective. Effects may include acne (because of trauma to the skin) or the ppl may burn you. Also, its sort of expensive if you do it outside and it can be messy and time consuming. But the hair grow back date is longer too.

Shaving is the easiet but then you gotta do it often and you have prickly stubble. Also, you have the stubble leftover on your leg (well most ppl anyway) so there's still some :S factor to it,

14 how does hirsutism affect your love/social/sex life? and on a scale of 0-10 (or OFF THE SCALE!!!) how would you say that the hirsutism affects your self-esteem/self-worth?

Well I definately feel ugly. In fact, I feel so much like a man. Like any teenage girl, I always imagine having a bf....but then if he goes to kiss me and sees/feels my chin hair! That would be awful!
Also, I recently started wearing my hair down and my self-esteem has gone up a bit because guys started noticing me and sometimes catcalling. Silly, I know, but it still made me feel a bit better about myself.

With all that said, I still do have a lot of self-confidence because if you present a confident face to the world, the world WILL respect you more because you respect yourself. Yeah, a lot of the times you will have to face the rudeness of others, but live through it, become stronger, and gain even more respect from others simply because of the increasing respect you have for yourself.

15 does your partner know you have hair? do you cover/remove it and try to keep it flawless all the time or do you sometimes let it go for a bit?
N/A. I would imagine though that I wouldn't want to be flawless all the time and would like to meet someone who doesn't really care about that. (naive? maybe, but one can always dream)

16 does hirsutism cause a less-fullfilling sex life?
I shouldn't think so......

17 have you come to accept the problem or do you constantly find yourself wondering how things would be different if you DIDNT have it? does it cause a constant state of depression/loss of control?
It has its ups and downs. It really upsets me sometimes that I can't wear tank tops or bathing suits like normal people because of my acne problem. It upsets me sometimes that because of the hyperpigmentation under my chin, I can't raise my head back. Yes, I do feel fat. With all that said, I've learned to live with myself and come to *God forbid* appreciate it .

I've learned to nurture other attributes that make me feel more attractive, like my humour and stuff. I try to focus on my blessings so that as I increase respect for myself, ppl will see that and will respect me more because of that.

18 does the cold seem to make hair growth worse?

Not that I've noticed...

Unhappy my hair and me...

1 when hair is visible on your arms or legs, how many of you wear long sleeves w/ pants?

I always wear long sleeves and long pants/skirt. My arm hair is pretty bad but I can't seem to bring myself to worry about it as much as I do about my other body hair.

2 how many people wear socks constantly to hide the hair around the ankle & toes & feet?

I shave my toes and top of feet so it's not a concern.

3 does anyone wear turtlenecks/scarves to hide hair on the chest or neck?

Yes, especially scarves. I got those nice fluffy ones in all colors.

4 or comb your hair around your face so that sideburns aren't visible.

I wax my face and that includes sideburns for me, so nope for that.

5 if you cant wax, nair or pluck for a few days, do you give in to the urge to shave? (actually i heard plucking is worse and shaving is better but i feel safer plucking for some odd reason)

Depends on the area. I shave my legs, under arms and feet but every thing else is a no-no. I absolutely never ever shave my face, the mere thought freaks me out completely. I always wax or sometimes pluck when I get desperate.

So far I have to say waxing. I get it done at a salon. If I could afford it I'd wax most of my body.

7 does anyone else get knicked from shaving their arms or toes or feet?

I nick all the time . I recently stole DH's electric razor and that helps. Not as smooth a shave but no nicks!

8 whats the strangest place that you have to remove hair? i dont know if its strange but my fingers...i actually woulda said the tops of my feet or a couple other things except that i saw some people who said they too have to remove the hair from there.

Nipples, butt crack and stomach - in that order.

I wish I knew. I used to really stress about it but since I got all the extra body hair it is low on my totem pole of worries.

Nope

As previously stated it depends on area, I shave legs, under arms and feet but nothing else. When it comes to my facial hair I wax at a salon. They don't use the hot wax but what they call a strip wax. It works really well, minimal red bumps and it lasts at least 3 weeks (although by the end of the month it's starts getting noticeable again). It's a bit painful but it feels glorious afterwards (they do my sideburns, chin, under chin, upper lip). All other body hair I leave alone. Nobody else sees it but DH and he says it doesn't really bother him (benefits of a Portuguese hubby I guess).

14 how does hirsutism affect your love/social/sex life? and on a scale of 0-10 (or OFF THE SCALE!!!) how would you say that the hirsutism affects your self-esteem/self-worth?

I wouldn't say the hair affects my sex life but definitely my social life. DH has even commented on how my behaviour changes after I've had my wax. Before I feel uncomfortable, the facial hair really irritates and bothers me. I hide my face when the hair starts growing back and even avoid people and attention as much as possible.

15 does your partner know you have hair? do you cover/remove it and try to keep it flawless all the time or do you sometimes let it go for a bit?

Hubby is well aware. I try to keep the face as flawless as possible but sometimes I let the rest go a it

16 does hirsutism cause a less-fullfilling sex life?

Nope.

17 have you come to accept the problem or do you constantly find yourself wondering how things would be different if you DIDNT have it? does it cause a constant state of depression/loss of control?

I am a very very long way from accepting it. Sometimes I dream of a time before all of the hair.

18 does the cold seem to make hair growth worse?

Not that I've noticed.

19 pros & cons of your favourite method/least favourite method. i know ive put this a few times on here probably but i figure that different products may be listed on different areas so you dont have to answer this if you have already and youre going to say the same thing you already said...lol bcuz i dont wanna be a hassle BUT this is more for the last words on any product that is worth knowing about. see above

1 when hair is visible on your arms or legs, how many of you wear long sleeves w/ pants? Don't worry about my arms too much... if I am too lazy to shave my legs for a day though I always wear long pants. In the summer my leg hair grows so fast that it's stubbly by night time.

2 how many people wear socks constantly to hide the hair around the ankle & toes & feet? No way. I won't give up my flip-flops and bare feet. I just shave my big toe and the top of my foot along with my legs. I can let it go for a day or two and it's not noticable.

3 does anyone wear turtlenecks/scarves to hide hair on the chest or neck? No... I just shave the chest hair and I don't have any on my neck really (yet).

4 or comb your hair around your face so that sideburns arent visible. I used to, now I use a small eyebrow razor to get rid of any dark fine hair on my face.

5 if you cant wax, nair or pluck for a few days, do you give in to the urge to shave? (actually i heard plucking is worse and shaving is better but i feel safer plucking for some odd reason) I always shave... there is no risk of stimulating the hair to grow more, it is quick and simple, reliable in a pinch, and always gets the job done.

See above. I do have problems with razor burn but there are various products out there to help with it. Currently I use Bikini Zone products to reduce irritation and razor burn on my stomach/gentials.

7 does anyone else get knicked from shaving their arms or toes or feet? Nope... been shaving my legs since I was 12 so I am pretty practiced by now... shaving any other place is pretty much the same.

8 whats the strangest place that you have to remove hair? i dont know if its strange but my fingers...i actually woulda said the tops of my feet or a couple other things except that i saw some people who said they too have to remove the hair from there. Tops of fingers... butt crack... I also have these weird hairs on like my shoulder area coming down to my chest but they are not very visible so I just trim them with a beard trimmer...

Whoever figures this one out gets my firstborn child! Seriously!

10 anyone tried those hair buffers by con-air or any of that kinda stuff? the ones where you replace those pads on it? like a microderm abrasion kit? No

11 WHAT IS A FACIAL HAIR BUFFER? they have those facial hair buffers at the stores but i dont know if they really work like they say they do and HOW do they work? thats why im hesitant to buy it. Don't know

Sorry no clue

13 favourite method? most effective? least favourite? least effective? please give details as to why, if you can. i.e. the smell, the residue, painful/leaves burns, too much preparation time/doesnt remove small/long hairs effectively, doesnt remove hair as its supposed to, etc. Shaving... no mess, it's quick, there's no guessing involved. Of course if you can't shave for a few days it all comes back gross and stubbly... so it's not the best if you go on a lot of camping trips and the like...

14 how does hirsutism affect your love/social/sex life? and on a scale of 0-10 (or OFF THE SCALE!!!) how would you say that the hirsutism affects your self-esteem/self-worth? It used to be much worse... since I gave in and started shaving my whole body I feel better because I feel like no one can find out about it if my shirt lifts up or whatever. I used to worry constantly about what people would see. When I first started dating my BF I always tried to make sure we were in dim light because I did not yet shave on/between my breasts, or my butt, etc. Now I shave everything and I know there is nothing to see. I get nervous when I have razor burn on my stomach though (this is probably my hairiest area) because I feel like it looks like a gross rash or something. I would say overall it is maybe a 6 for how it affects me though on good times this can dip down to maybe a 3. Every time I feel like it is getting worse, it shoots up again...

15 does your partner know you have hair? do you cover/remove it and try to keep it flawless all the time or do you sometimes let it go for a bit? He knows I have PCOS and I told him that I have excess hair but he doesn't know exactly where (other than it's not just on my arms and legs). He tries to be sensitive about it but mostly does not notice or think about it, I think. I always keep it removed and whenever I think I am going to see him I shave everything. Sometimes I let my legs go a little and get stubbly because it's normal to have leg hair so who cares.

16 does hirsutism cause a less-fullfilling sex life? Not anymore. Since I started shaving everything I feel more confident and I am not worried or ashamed that he will see anything, so nothing holds me back.

17 have you come to accept the problem or do you constantly find yourself wondering how things would be different if you DIDNT have it? does it cause a constant state of depression/loss of control? I can't accept it yet but I am working on being able to live with it... some times are worse, some better. When the problem is stable I feel OK. In times like now, when I notice it getting worse again, I start to panic... I am only 23, what will this be like in 10 or 20 years?? I just have to hope they have really cheap laser by then

18 does the cold seem to make hair growth worse? No, actually I think the heat does.

I think I have already answered this one
