Question hmmm. does this bug any of y'all?

i admit my posts have been few and far between. but then having said that, i'm an IRC chat g33k.

my major interest is because my wife wants me to get a bit more involved. ( and actually i dont mind, you all seem a little smarter than the kiddies i deal with on my IRC server.

but one thing that i cant understand is why some of the ladies insist on having a signature thats like a page and a half long with pictures ect..
is there really a need for it? i could've added half a dozen pics of the things i'm interested in showing you all but to be honest, it makes my posts longer than my screen res..
i dunno, its just a pet hate i spose. but i just was interested to know if it bugs anyone else??

I'm with you Mike. Takes up a lot of disk space, I would imagine it takes forever to load for those with a dial-up connection. It tells me things that don't matter about people I don't know. I'm interested in what people are asking, information they are sharing and any experiences they might have had that can apply to me or my daughter. Don't intend to sound mean, that's just the way it is.

Default :P signatures blah

i do have a signature. but often i dont post it..
and it contains only the details i need.

and even the website is surplus cos there's a button for it....

but yeah...
i dunno, i just dont have a very big screen ( on account of candice having the powerful computer cos she's too impatient to use the 166Mhtz pc ) and its little annoying for me to have to scroll ( since i dont own a scroll mouse ) thru about a page and a hlaf of pictues or those "i am green what colour are you?" quiz things.

Amen, brother.

FYI: U can turn off signatures alltogether. Mine is probably a bit busy, but I tried to keep the actual SIZE pretty small, tho after some thought, I might should shorten it a bit.

I've posted about this before, more towards the "make money while you sleep" or "Bill gates will pay u to read emails" or some such stuff that appears in some sigs... and ended up getting flamed... so now I tread lightly, and tend to hang here.

Well, with Kat's help maybe some of this will get under control.

Thumbs up Seriously with you!

I'm seriously with you all on this one. I thought I was kinda internet savvy, but I don't even know how to create some of the things that I see in the sigs! I mean at first they were kinda novel, but now they're just annoying. I go to this site to get information and to give support. I really don't need to know if someone's "a little naughty" like chocolate.

Yep I am with you. I do have a sig, but no pics. Most of the time I chose not to display it unless I feel it necessary or just forget to turn it off. Some peoples are just WAY too long. They take up a whole page and a lot of them trigger pop ups.

( I don't mean to affend anyone -so please don't take it that way)

Ha !

I thought I was the only one !
I like type but those other posts like what colour are you I would have to agree take up a ton of space and when I am at work on the wee computers they provide it takes FOREVER to get anywhere to get the GOOD information out of the post...

Congrats on the babe she is a beauty

Thumbs down like 5 in a row bug me

They bug me too (the long ones)
I admit I had a "I am tea flavoured" button but only one (not like 5 different "I am ...")

I do though enjoy reading the sigs when they contain various info like what the cyster is trying (rX, vitatmins), weightloss, baby picture link...

I just wish that the graphic intensive "I am like a ..." were quite to a minimum of one per cyster. I always quite frankly am sick of them (got rid of mine) after getting a headache of being bombarded by them.

Yep, I agree. I have one but I consider it small compared to others.

I remember this being a debate back in the day!!

I consider my signature long, but I consider it useful as well. There were many times I read cysters posts when I was TTC and their sig actually helped out. It tells a lot of information about what their doing in their TTC process, if ladies have miscarried, if they have children, etc. I find them useful most of the time actually.

I could do without the cute lil survey things. I had it in my sig awhile back and my own sig annoyed the hell outta me!! I like sigs that have pictures also. It's nice seeing what some cysters look like rather then digging through the 5 pages (or more now) picture threads posted all over the board!

To each their own!!
**EDIT**

I also wanted to say another thing that helped was when I foudn out I was pregnant, I was nervous about my P4 level dropping etc., so I was able to click on posts with many replies and look at all the pg ladies sigs and see what theirs were! That was a real life saver when I didn't receive a lot of answers to my actual thread on the subject!

Yep. They bug me.

I think there is a difference between useful and relevant info (like what ttc'ers have/are doing, diet info, pg info, beta #s, P4 #s, meds, etc and the "I am ..." things. I also think maybe a limit should be imposed on non-relevant info. And even though sometimes seeing the pics people put up is nice, maybe it would be OK to limit them to one pic per signature?

I do have a sig, but I think it's pretty short and usually relevant to what I'm posting about (ttc, etc.)

If anybody thinks my sig is too big, please let me know. I know those long list of quiz results bug me too. So, if my sig is bugging anybody that bad, please pm or post it here - if it annoys a large group - I will change it.

I do believe that Kat has just recently asked us to keep sig lines to less than 15.

I know mine could probably be smaller...but those ones with all those "I am like...." really do bug me....it's like..okay, we get the idea!! haha

But really...they dont bother me as much as the ones with broken links...I mean, hello! if you read your own posts you should realize that some of things dont work anymore...fix them or take them out!!! Like we want to see red x's or vb code
