Default Hmmm, I've never heard of this before...

I recently read an article that said women with pcos are more prone to have hair on their thumbs.

Has anyone experienced this?

I have some light hair on my knuckles of every finger EXCEPT my thumbs. I have no hair whatsoever on my thumbs.

LOL I'm laughing at the image of everyone inspecting their thumbs when they read this post like I did.................

After inspecting my thumbs I have to say that I have 2 light blond hairs on my right thumb, and 1 light blond hair on my left thumb. The rest of my fingers have way more hair, but not "furry". Never would have thought to look before.
Interesting.

I have no hair any where on my hands or fingers or knuckles.
My feet though are covered in hair and I have to actually shave my toes.

LMAO!!!

I'm the same as most of you (have hair on all my fingers, but not my thumbs).

I know they say that with the exception of lips and fingertips, you have a very fine layer of hair all over your body but I never thought that it applied to thumbs too.

Interesting indeed

Bettlegirl, I shave my toes too.

My arms have gotten considerably hairier over the past year, and it's beginning to extend towards my thumb. I shave it.

Thumbs up Notice the thumb icon!!!

I've been experiencing the same thing too, DigitalAngel. I am now started to get sparse blonde hairs on the undersides of my forearms.

About my thumbs: well, the hair on them is so faint that I can hardly see it or feel it. I wish it was like that everywhere else! It is only on the first part of my thumbs--the part closest to the hand. No hair grows on the part with my thumbnail.

I will admit that yes, I shave the tops of my feet and all my toes! I don't do this every single day yet though because the hair growth hasn't gotten that bad there. I also have more important areas to worry about than my toes! Sometimes I feel like an explorer in the middle of the Amazon with a machete. I'm not sure how to spell machete, but I think machete is right. Can you tell I like the word MACHETE? I can use up a razor a day, believe it or not! I shave my legs, bikini line when I go swimming, my feet, underarms, and around my belly button in case it accidently shows if my jeans begin to sag or my top begins to rise. Arghhhh, I hate being a woman in a hairy ape suit!!!!

I also pluck like a madman! I pluck my chin, sideburn area, chest, shoulders, and if I can reach it, I'll pluck the odd hair on my back. Is this normal for PCOS?

Sorry to hijack the thread, folks!

Christina, sadly, it is very normal for pcos women to have excess hair growth...everywhere.

I have hair on my thumbs. I also have hair on my fingers, lower portion and upper...except no hair on the upper portion of my pointing finger!!! How funny!!! I do shave the tops of my hands (along with my arms). I have not shaved my fingers yet...but that will probably come one day! LOL Some days I just gotta laugh it's so bad!!!
