My Mood: Points: 3,293.59 Bank: 2,705.18 Total Points: 5,998.77 | Holiday Ideas near Houston Texas I have a couple of days off in the first week of March and I am going to visit my boyfriend in Houston. Is there any place we can go close by for a small vacation. I looked at the cruises but most of them are during weekdays and I wont be able to make it. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

You could rent a beach house on Galveston island (where the cruises depart from), which would be nice and relaxing, but definitely not like a cruise or anything! It's a fun place to hang around, though. There's a historic downtown area with good restaurants, little shops, etc. The beaches aren't beautiful, but it's still water. You might google it and see if there's anything about it that interests you.

Check out the Texas tourism guide at TravelTex.com for more great ideas.

If you're wanting to do a little road trip, Lake Travis by Austin is beautiful. Though it's too cold to do much on the lake this time of year. There are some really nice resorts there, too.
