I didn't know the with Met. came the pleasant side effect of BULEMIA!!!!
JEEZ!!! I know this sounds really bad, and like I'm demented and all, but I kind of like being turned off from food...Hell It turned me on for 33 years, so this is a nice change of pace!
I just began taking Met, yesterday, and the bottle says 500mg, twice a day...WELL, I forgot my doctor told me that I should only take one pill a day for the first week...I found out the hard way on that lettuce thing too!
Today, I split a 500 mg, and took half with my breakfast of yougart and a protein bar, didn't eat the entire bar or yougart, and a small glass of milk...I didn't finish any of it... The only thing I seem to be able to keep down, freeze pops!? Don't know why, but I can eat me some freeze pops and things are alright....
Who knows, we'll see, can't wait to start taking more Clomid too, because I'm not naseous enough, I want to see what I ate when I was a child...just kidding, trying to lighten it up around here a bit...
yikes. Hope you feel better soon! I was nauseated at first and for 3-5 days each time I increased the dose, but now (knock on wood) the nausea is past. I read on here that ginger pills help - try those or drink some ginger tea (can get at health food store).

FYI - for future reference - definitely be careful with drinking booze too - I mean when you can finally palate food and aren't yakking it up...I discovered booze is really bad. Like major tummy cramps and firehose bum at 3am bad. Yikes.

no bulimia for me, just not much interest in food at all. i have to remind myself to eat small meals throughout the day, otherwise i'd probably only eat once/day.

Hope you feel better soon. And rest assured...that feeling of food aversion does pass. I found as my hormones started normalizing, I developed the usual cravings during my period and a much more normal appetite.

I hope the food aversion gets better... I started out ok, now a few months in I'm getting nauseated halfway through my meals... I've learned to just stop the first time I feel it because eating more anyway will just make it worse. I did find that salty foods tend to bother me less... But since i'm trying to loose weight I can't go around eating chips all day!
Side note... the nausea started when my dr. put me on Synthroid, anyone think its the combo thats doing it?

I took levothyroxin for years for my thyroid and it always made me nauseas, probably because I had to take it on an empty stomach. I also had the same issues with metformin, but my dr. at the time took me off of it because he said I wasn't tolerating it. I have a new dr. now and have been meaning to ask about it again - but have been procrastinating due to the vomitoreum. I couldn't even keep water down!!!!
That's a good point about the thyroid meds and the met... I wonder if your on to something!!!
Interesting... my first round of met i got the nausea about a year into it... it was then that I stopped taking it. I had been assuming it was the met again, I hadn't heard of nausea related to Synthroid. Either way, I'm loosing weight much faster on the Syntroid so I want to stick with it, provided the side effects don't get too bad. It feels way more rewarding to be loosing 1-2 lbs. a week vs. .2 lbs a week!

Hi there. I'm a newbie, I am two weeks into my Metformin and my main side effect have been I just don't want to eat! The toilet gets quite a work out as well. I have also been kinda dizzy. Has anyone else encountered this?
Thanks!
