Default Home Microdermabrasion Kits?

Has anyone tried these and do they make any difference in your skin at all?

My skin has become so terrible with acne/ingrown hair scars, etc. I was wondering if these are worth investing in.

Some of the brands:
Youthful Essence (on TV - the Susan Lucci one)
Neutrogena

Thanks Ladies!!

I have used one by AVON and I really like the way that my skin feels afterwards. I have only started using it so I know I need to keep it up to see more results. But so far I really like what it is doing for me.

I know that I love Beauty Control, microderm abrasion and the chemical peel. My face has never felt better. Now mind you I use the whole face cleaning deal. But My face feels great...

I've used L'Oreal brand & Mary Kay. Even though I am a huge Mary Kay fan, I have to say the L'Oreal brand is better and a lot less expensive.

I have been using the L'oreal kit for a couple of weeks. I LLOVE IT!!! I also have scarring form ingrown hair and it does help a little. It makes my face very smooth. I woudl reccommend it. I found it on sale at Wla-mart for $19. It usually runs around $22 - $24.

You can actually buy microdermabrasion crystals on eBay - very inexpensive - and then mix them with whatever moisturizer/cleanser you use. You can make them as strong or gentle as you want that way.

It leaves your skin SUPER soft and smooth.

Avon also has a two-step chemical peel that seems to help some as far as evening out tone, etc.

Actually, chemical peels are better for acne problems, micro is better for rejuvenating the skin.

I use the Neutrogena Chemical Peel once a week, at it is helping to chip away at my old acne marks, and it gets rid of the dead skin on my face and it isn't too harsh, even though I am taking acne meds.

Thanks for sharing. I have been thinking about trying this. I would like to get rid of all of my old acne scars. My skin is looking much better since I have been using Aveeno Clear Complexion products, but I still have the old scars.

i would have always assumed that microdemabrasion would make acne worse. like all that scrubbing and stuff i would imagine it getting imflamed and sore. i dont have severe acne, but i do get cystic acne occasionally and i am always suffering from a pimples here and there. is everyone who has dried it just using it over old acne scars or do they have current acne too?

I actually started using it because of "acne" scarring. I never really had acne, so to speak -- just the occassional pimples here and there that left scars. Mostly my scarring is from the facial hair, though.....shaving, waxing, whatever to get rid of the hair --- all leading to ingrown hairs every now and then, whch led to scarring. (My skin is hyper-pigmented).
I've been using the Neutrogena one and I must admit that my skin is improving slowly. My complexion is not dull-looking anymore and some marks have started to fade.

As for those with acne - I agree that it probably would make it worse, since acne is basically little inflammations on the skin -- and aggravating it could probably make it worse.

I have the spa girl home microdermabrasion kit. It is pretty expensive, but well well worth the money. Right now I am using the microdermabrasion machine, some mild face wash and benzyl peroxide and my skin looks a ton better. The website is www.spagirl.com
