Our homestudy packet came in the mail today! With all the storms we've been having, I managed to rescue it from the mail box with only a little water on it too!
We've known it was approved for a couple of weeks now, but it's so much more reassuring to have it in hand!
The social worker said she sent a copy out to INS so we should be getting our I171-H soon! Does anyone know about how long this takes after they have everything? We filed in February, had our prints done in April, and the Homestudy should be getting to them by the end of this week.
We have to get letters of FBI clearance, which I'm told takes up to 8 weeks (they've had it only a week now), but that they give priority to adoption cases, so I'm hoping maybe everything will come in soon and we can send our dossier to Colombia!
I know a lady through a mailing list for Colombian adoptions who worked with our agency. Her DS was born two months BEFORE her paperwork went down, and she spent his first birthday with him in Colombia! It's really hitting home that this is IT.. our son could be born already! This is real!!
