My husband and I are strongly considering adoption. We've heard that in our state (FL) it generally takes 10 months or so before one can bring a child into their home. Our problem is that our home is in need of rennovation. We just got it and it's from the early 80's and wasn't very well maintained. Would we likely be able to "pass" the homestudy or is it better to wait to apply until after we are able to rennovate (which may be 6-8 months from now). Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

I don't know about in your state but... here you get two chances. They walk through and tell you what you need to fix... then come back after you fix it. So it's kinda up to you what you want to do. For us the two time look through is all included in the price of the homestudy. Also between the two times they ask for you to have the fire marshal out - here in MN since we only have 3 in the entire state that can take months before you can get your home inspected.
