Talking Homestudy starts THIS coming Saturday

Okay, so the squeaky wheel theory works ... I called the International Adoption coordinator this morning and by early this evening our assigned social worker had contacted us to schedule our first appointment -- which is going to be this Saturday (Aug.16)... we are excited, but a little nervous... I guess that is normal.

I am debating about how clean the house should be. It is currently quite tidy and clean, but by no means sparkling... what is the expectation here????

It final feels like this is really going to happen... we really want to be making our trip to Russia by early Spring...

Janie

Congrats on getting the ball rolling. As for the homestudy, try not to worry. (I know it's hard ) Our social worker told us she would be more worried if our house was spotless, because what would we do when our son came home. I did clean, but not to an extreme. I mostly made sure everything was put away. She didn't check our closets or anything like that, she just really glanced through the house.

I did alot of worrying for nothing. LOL

Hoping for a GREAT homestudy visit for you!!!

Just be yourselves !!
I agree with Jen, don't overclean ! Goodness what will you do when you have a baby ? neglect the kid for the clean LOL not likely ...
Just be casual (if thats the way you are) and remember they are there to HELP you achieve your goal of becoming parents not to try and destroy it...

Good Luck !

Amy

I agree with the ladies above. Don't go too crazy--the s/w knows real people live there and she'll appreciate the fact that you are being yourselves and are comfortable in your own home.

Everything will go fine--I remember how nervous I was, but it all went great!

Godo luck & keep us posted!!
