and boy am I nervous.
I know I probably shouldn't be but I am.
It's the first of 5 visits and I have anxiously awaiting to start but now that the time is almost here...I'm kinda scared.
Anyone have any advice or words of wisdom for me?
Thanks.
Relax and be yourself. I know it is hard, we were even more nervous when we had are update home visit a couple months ago. But it turns out okay. They aren't looking to find out bad things but are looking to find wonderful parents who are "normal" everyday people who want to parent a child. And I am sure you are "normal"
Good Luck.
Stacy

You'll come back on here after homestudy and ask "what was I so worried about!" lol Seriously, sit back and be yourself, chat it up, and everything will go great!
Keep us posted!

I was so nervous before our HS! I seriously wonder now why I was so worried! Stay's right, they're not looking to pick out the bad things. It's to get a picture of how you are as individuals, how you are as a couple, & how you will raise your child. We should have had 4 seperate visits but we had 1 visit that was 3 1/2 hours long. Our SW asked us questions together, then seperately, then walked through our house. She didn't need to see any security things (stairs gates, plugs, etc.) just needed to know what we were going to do.
Good Luck!

Get involved in animal rescue. You won't be sorry. Your heart may break, there may be times when your eyes are red-rimmed for days. You may lose faith in the goodness of people, but your spirit will be renewed by the resilience of those you save. It isn't easy, but it's worth it. I promise you, you will be forever changed.
see that wasnt so bad was it. you know when we were going through the whole process i tried to celebrate each step closer to our child, it really helped us as a couple get exited. It can be hard when there is no doctors appointments, or ultrasounds, so i used all the adoption steps as a replacement for those. We celebrated each time we made another step, by making a purchase for our child, or going out as a couple.
So Congrats on a step closer!!

Our visit yesterday went fine.
There is alot of paperwork but not as much as I thought I would have so that was good. Biggest problem is dh lived in the U.S. so he is required to do a finger print check with the FBI...does anyone have the address of where we are required to send his prints? Our worker couldn't find it.
Our next visit is October 16th so I have a ton of time to fill out the paperwork.
Thanks for the wishes & support
We just sent mine in to our HS agency and they sent them off (b/c I haven't lived in TX for 10 years I had to have mine done...they didn't care that DH lived OUT of TX for 2 years in the past 10 years).
How about calling the FBI? There should be some info on their website...
Do you mean he lived out of the US or do you live out of the US now?

We are both Canadian citizens living in Canada but for a few years my dh was in charge at some hospital in Chicago. I checked the FBI website but found nothing.
Thanks Amy. I`ll try calling tomorrow.
