Depending on the time of year, I've heard of a couple of weddings that have been held at Cape Spear, about 20 minutes outside St. John's in Newfoundland. Being the most easterly point of land in the western hemisphere, it's the first place that the sun rises on a new day in all of North America. Some people find a wedding there at dawn to be very symbolic. I don't know if you can hire the lighthouse or not, but a couple of years ago I did go to a wedding held in the lighthouse at Fort Amherst inside the city. At Cape Spear, the view is wild and spectacular with whales romping in the background (in season). There are also boat tours out around that area that have been hired for weddings. Of course if your fiancee is from Newfoundland he might find those incredible seascapes all too boring! LOL
I would second the Tofino idea - or anywhere on Vancouver Island/the gulf Islands for that matter.
I've travelled tons of places in my life and Vancouver Island is still (in my opinion) one of the most beautiful places on earth.
(of course I was raised there, so I may be a bit biased. )
and, congrats on the engagement!

I'm slightly partial, but if you're having a fall or spring wedding, the Niagara Penninsula is wonderful. Don't think of Niagara Falls. LOL I'm talking about Niagara wine country. Especially in the fall. There are many wineries here where you could hold a wedding which are truly beatuiful, along with stunning bed and breakfasts. Niagara On The Lake, the first capital of Canada, is a breathtaking old town right on the Niagara River, with lots of great, historic places to stay and eat and see.
Here is a site with some lovely Niagara On The Lake hotels. Let me know if you'd like more information about the Niagara area and wineries and such.

I am originally from NF and my husband is from BC. We got married at a resort called Tyax. It is very remote and you have to drive like 5 hours from vancouver to get there. It is like a big log cottage notel. It is on a lake. There is horsebackriding, canoeing, ATV's available, panning for gold, nature trails. The food is awesome. I'd reccommend it for a honeymoon (that's where we went) and they also do weddings!!!

My husband and I stayed at Hidden Ridge Chalet in Banff for our honeymoon 7 years ago. It was really nice... too bad I was sick. It's up and away from downtown, but not too far.
Vancouver Island is definately a nice idea.
A really quaint place in Ontario is Tobermory on the Bruce Peninsula. http://www.naturalretreat.com/tobermory.htm http://www.tobermory.org/
My husband and I went there for a little vacation and I'd have to say it's one of my favourite vacations we've had. We took the trip out to Flowerpot Island where there are beautiful sites and a nice hike. It's an area where you do feel like you get away from it all. Make sure to book hotel or make sure you get into town and get a hotel room early in the day because cruise ships land there and the passangers like to stay in the hotels.
I love Niagara on the Lake too. It's much nicer than Niagara Falls. There are all kinds of nice hotels and B&B's there. I believe you can also do horse drawn carriage rides through downtown. There are some nice parks that you could probably book a wedding for.
My husband says the Santa Maria in West Edmonton Mall.
