Hopeful Conceptions is a thread for women who are trying to conceive after a miscarriage, using any means, i.e. naturally, medically like using clomid and iui's or using alternative methods like soy. Even if you have not had a loss, you are VERY welcomed here!

There is alot of anxiety when hoping for another baby after a loss. Not only is there the pressure of trying to conceive, but there is also the fear of losing another baby. It can be hard to hope. The purpose of my creating this thread is to not only lend support, encouragment and share advice, but also to be a positive influence at a time when it may be hard to be positive or there may not be positive support around you.

I have copied some information about soy. If there are any other cyster out there with more information, please post.

The phytoestrogens in soy are thought to act in a manner similar to that of drugs like clomid. In other words, clomid (and the phytoestrogens in soy) have anti-estrogen like properties. They fool your body into thinking that your estrogen levels are low. This causes a release of FSH and LH which helps to stimulate follicle production.

The soy product most used is called Soy Isoflavones. You can buy them at Wal Mart. The brandname is Spring Valley and can be found in the vitamin section by the pharmacy. They are 40mg per pill (check the bottle and make sure). It works similar to clomid. You take it on the same cd as you would clomid and a dosage according to what works for you and it will/ has been known to help PCOSers ovulate.

The dose that is best to start with is 80 mg on CD 3-7 or 5-9. If you dont O from that dose then you should move up until you do. There have been some that have taken it late in their cycle and it has helped with O. I took it and 4 days later Oed. Didnt get PG but it is something to think about if you have a very long cycle you can take it for 5 days.

We get asked alot about NPC so I thought that I would give a little info about how to use it. You use the dose on the bottle and put it on your chest or other places that have thin skin. You would use it for 14 days and then stop. If you dont get AF within 10 days then you would want to take it again for a week.

Ava2005 - Pregnant the first month of Soy. CD 3-7 @ 120mg and ovulated on cd 24. Never o’d on own without meds before.

Colleen98 - TTC 2nd soy baby!! Used 160mg on cd5-9 & O'd on cd36 & had a beautiful baby girl 9 months later!! Did not O in over a year before used the soy that time.

BLUEHAIL - PG on Soy

MissyAg -Has a Soy baby. She took CD 3-7 40mg

*DesertRose* - conceived first soy cycle back in 2003 and gave birth to a healthy baby girl in April 2004
Pregnant again! EDD: 23 January 07

20032B - Got BFP Took Soy CD 3-7. 80mg days 3 and 4, but upped the dose to 120mg the remaining days.

vtmommy - Oed late but still PG with the help of soy.

Ekuhr - Just started my first round of soy. I am on cd4. I have been diagnosed with PCOS since 1999 and have been ttc for about 2 years. I have had 4 failed attempts with Clomid and 1 failed attempt with follistim/IUI. I am on about 1500 mg of Met and now the soy also. I have also been working hard on a no sugar diet. HARD!!! but I've lost a little over 10 lbs. so far. So all of this in combo I am hoping will work for ttc.

Dec 05-Jan 06 and had a cycle on my own so know that just watching the carbs can help.

Can I take soy late in my cycle?
I have taken it late in my cycle and Oed, but as with anything you should do it with an open mind.

What time of day should I take soy?
Soy can cause headaches in some so if you want to sleep through your s/e then take it at night before bed.

Do I take it all at the same time?
Yes, you should take the whole dose at the same time every day. Even if you are on a high dose.

What if I dont O on 80mg?
You can move up the dose on the next cycle.

How long till I O with soy?
It all depends on the person taking it. O can take a few days to a few weeks. Keep checking your signs for O.

Where can I get my soy?
I have done alot of searching and the place that we suggest is walmart they have it for less then $6. If you dont have a walmart close then here are a few links to places that sell soy and the prices.

The one that I suggest. It is 40mg so you will have the same dose in the pills that most of us have.

Hello ladies! I know it's been quite some time since I posted on the other thread. I just wanted to make my mark. I read all the new post daily. I am in limbo with ttc right now. I did see the new Doctor yesterday. She ran a butt load of test and I go back in a month for a hysteroscope. At this point I need to wait until then to decide what our plan will be. She had them 26 vials of blood for testing! She also said she wants me use prometrium instead of provera because she said it is more natural and can be taken during pregnancy.
She also told me to continue going to curves. She mentioned maybe discontinuing clomid and maybe doing femara or injectables. I told he I was against injeactables but would definately consider femara. So now I have to wait for at least a month but it may take a bit longer. Depending on some of the test results that come back today, she will call in an rx for prometrium for me and I will hopefully at least get an af within 2 weeks. I just wanted all of you to know that even though I have not posted I am still here lurking. Welcome to all the newbies!

Heady the new thread looks great! Maybe this af is different because of the hsg and hopefully that is a good sign. Your af's seem to be pretty intense so that is at least 1 good thing about this cycle. Put in where you can find the soy, maybe that most can easily find it at walmart. And maybe you can find the thread or info on npc cream since most that come in are in midcycle.

my arm is feeling a bit better today but still all bruised and stuff will see what the xrays say on monday if af still hasn't shown by then i think i am going to ask them for a test before the xrays hope everyone is having a great day

Aight i called her and aksed her bout the BCP now she did tell me to stop but i go today and hse says oh i seen your chart you was here a month ago. We would like for you to stay on BCP 4 Mmonths. I said oh nooo I ratherjust take ,Met (which i got yaaaaaaay hopefully i wont have to pay when i go get them.) and i brought some

from Walgreens its has Soy isoflavones and Black Cohosh. I am goin to try this one instead of my utha soy after this cycle is over. Or maybe even while its goin.Well then on to the rest.Then the DR says I'm dont really have many patients with pco couldn't even really pronounce the name kept messin up.So she said go to the GYN . Now i been to one and she is sending me to the same one i went to. I had stopped goin cuz it was too far and my insurance had ran out so i really didn't have a way to it. I might have to find a near by OB/GYN. So i am doing the natural route for 3-4 months then i go back to see her or the gyn or both. Then they gonna move on if m cycles are getting together. I hope by that time a miracle happens and i will have to go in for a beta not ttc preconception. My day is good so far. They didn't do much bout the bleedgin i told them and did nothin bout that. That DR's office has gotten worse from the first time i went. LLB

Great new page. As for me no spotting or anything. I am just praying that maybe it was implant spotting that would be So cool. So tomorrow will be 4 days from the spotting and such so I should be able to test soon. I will type more later gals have a blessed day.

I was tryin to catch you I am not doing NPC right now i am doin the BCP, Then my Met and Estroven (Soy 55mg and Black Cohosh 40mg). Trying to ovulate on my own but with the lil help of met.

Heady: good job! You forgot to add me. I am still ttc. Had appt with re on 3/21, but i am changing to 4/2 due to insurance issue.

As for me, waiting on af, still have creamy pale pink cm, but no discharge for 4-5 days. What is going on here? I scheduled an appt with my reg ob in the mean time becuase he wanted me to cb 2mo after mc, so I will see what he is talking about. Just praying for af, although bfp would be better (test neg yesterday).

Just wanted to say hi! I know I have been gone FOREVER! I just wasn't really up to it after my loss, but now I am back in the swing of things. We are seeing a RE, and he put me on clomid 100mg, as soon as AF comes. It will be my first round, but who knows! Has anyone else taken it? How does it make you feel? I look forward to cathing up with all you ladies soon!

Kelsie, Clomid can give hot flashes, they are bad for me but you get used to them. That is the only issue that I have had...well and mood swings.

Ok to all of the ladies that I forgot please send me what you want and I will put you on there. For now I will just put your name. I am sorry for forgetting anyone. It took a bit to get it done.

khenders- I am having the same thing of the creamy pink Cm I have no idea what it is, talk about bad headaches and the thought of drinking a dr. pepper makes me sick.
