Smile ~*Hopeful Conceptions*~TTC w/ Soy It's May Part 2

Ok ladies here is our second May Thread. We are just a great lil chatty bunch.

This thread was originally on the alternative remedies board but has been moved to here.
Thinking of clomid? Give soy a try cd 5-9... that is the link to the old thread

Hopeful Conceptions is a thread for women who are trying to conceive after a miscarriage, using any means, i.e. naturally, medically like using clomid and iui's or using alternative methods like soy. Even if you have not had a loss, you are VERY welcomed here!

There is a lot of anxiety when hoping for another baby after a loss. Not only is there the pressure of trying to conceive, but there is also the fear of losing another baby. It can be hard to hope. The purpose of my creating this thread is to not only lend support, encouragement and share advice, but also to be a positive influence at a time when it may be hard to be positive or there may not be positive support around you.

I have copied some information about soy. If there are any other cysters out there with more information, please post. Thanks

The phytoestrogens in soy are thought to act in a manner similar to that of drugs like clomid. In other words, clomid (and the phytoestrogens in soy) have anti-estrogen like properties. They fool your body into thinking that your estrogen levels are low. This causes a release of FSH and LH which helps to stimulate follicle production.

The soy product most used is called Soy Isoflavones. You can buy them at Wal Mart. The brand name is Spring Valley and can be found in the vitamin section by the pharmacy. They are 40mg per pill (check the bottle and make sure). It works similar to clomid. You take it on the same cd as you would clomid and a dosage according to what works for you and it will/ has been known to help PCOSers ovulate.

The dose that is best to start with is 80 mg on CD 3-7 or 5-9. If you don't O from that dose then you should move up until you do. There have been some that have taken it late in their cycle and it has helped with O. I took it and 4 days later Oed. Didn't get PG but it is something to think about if you have a very long cycle you can take it for 5 days.

We get asked a lot about NPC so I thought that I would give a little info about how to use it. You use the dose on the bottle and put it on your chest or other places that have thin skin. You would use it for 14 days and then stop. If you don't get AF within 10 days then you would want to take it again for a week.

Here's the Thread about using Soy.

None of us on this thread are medical doctors. Please use use your own judgement when using soy or any other alternative methods.

~ Hopeful Conceptions ~ For those ttc by ANY means (continuation from the soy thread)

TTC

my2babies9806~ TTC #3 since June 07, using 3000mg EPO, 250mg Soy, pre-natals, Red Raspberry Leaf Tea, and 2000mg Metformin

Mommy1~ TTC #2 (our first together) since June 04; with pcos, male factor, and one fallopian tube; using 2000mg Metformin, 150mg Soy Isoflavones cd3-7, 400mg Vitex, cocktail of vitamins for both dh and myself and pre~seed!

ReginaIL~ TTC #1 since January 2005; with PCOS; using Met, 120mg Soy; lots of vitamins. Adding PreSeed soon.

Remember with support and compassion we can all get thru this.

Can I take soy late in my cycle?
I have taken it late in my cycle and Oed, but as with anything you should do it with an open mind.

What time of day should I take soy? Soy can cause headaches in some so if you want to sleep through your s/e then take it at night before bed.

Do I take it all at the same time? Yes, you should take the whole dose at the same time every day. Even if you are on a high dose.

What if I dont O on 80mg? You can move up the dose on the next cycle.

How long till I O with soy? It all depends on the person taking it. O can take a few days to a few weeks. Keep checking your signs for O.

Where can I get my soy?
I have done alot of searching and the place that we suggest is walmart they have it for less then $6. If you dont have a walmart close then here are a few links to places that sell soy and the prices.

www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/e...jsp?id=VS-1595
www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/e...jsp?id=NO-1354

The one that I suggest. It is 40mg so you will have the same dose in the pills that most of us have.

NPC?This is the NPC that I have found that looks like it will be the best for us.

Good Morning hunnie. OK AF is offically kicking my butt. TMI alert: I had to get up and change tampons 3 times last night. This is very not normal for me. I am always medium to light flow. HMMM makes me wonder about that last cycle of mine.
I called and talked to my doc and she said sounds like it might have been the start of a chemical pregnanacy. At least I am not too depressed about this.

my2babies9806 - Please let me know how that works for you. I'm intrigued!

Regina - My last cycle was like that! It was my first in 3 or 4 months and had to be brought on with Norethindrone (progestin). Oh my heavens! I wore Kotex Super Plus (they seem to hold more than any of the others) tampons and was honest-to-goodness changing AT LEAST once an hour and was still "leaking." I've had that happen a few times and each time it's accompanied by ginormous clots.

(TMI Alert) One morning, I had planned to do something with my mom and my aunt. About 40 minutes before time for me to go meet them, I got the strangest feeling in my lower back. It hurt but it also burned and then the crampy feeling went further down. I laid down for a little bit but the pain wouldn't go away. All of a sudden, I HAD to make it to the bathroom. When I did (here's the TMI part!) I passed a clot the size of a freaking baseball! That is the grossest feeling and then to HEAR it hit! I was done for. LOL The pain went away, though. I've often wondered if that was similar to what labor pains feel like... LOL!!

Remember a couple days ago I said I was spotting? Well, I only spotted for that evening and then nothing else! What on earth?!

Lullaby... the month before I conceived ds... I was due for my af in the beginning of july... and didn't have one til the end of aug... I had a clot so big that I had to pull it out... I never checked it for anything baby-like but every time I think about it I become more and more convinced that I had a m/c... so great big to you... you don't think maybe? not trying to make you feel bad... but I had to raise the possibility.

redcin: 3 tbsp of cinnamon? Are you serious? that's almost 1/4 cup of cinnamon. Um, I'm not taking that much. 1000 mg is like 1/4 tsp if I emptied the capsule. I'm taking one capsule twice a day.

Regina I'm sorry about your difficult AF. "This too shall pass."

I'm home this morning, feeling really sick still. I slept till 10AM. I have to go in this afternoon for a meeting though. This stupid cold needs to end.

marking a spot

In October 2004, I had the worst AF of my life. It lasted 2 weeks and I thought it would never end. A few weeks ago I wonder if it was an early m/c. Although I was TTCing...not with meds....I was not testing at the time. Now I wonder when I have really bad AFs that are clotty.

Good luck ladies!!!! May is starting off to be a month full of BFPs. Four ladies in my 2ww board have gotten them already.

I test today ...it wont be until later when I can get a test but it will be today. I am so nervous. My boobs don't hurt like they have been in the 2ww, but i constantly get this crampy feeling that feels like its coming from my cervix area. I noticed yesterday i was peeing like once an hour and if i held it i would get crampy. We DTD last night and I thought for sure it would bring AF down..which it usually does..but I am not spotting...thank goodness...but since the boob pain went away I am just hoping I still have a BFP in me!!!!

Will post when I have an update.
