I just checked out this book and I thought I'd recommend it to anyone else who's investigating the connection between their hormones & ailments.
"The Hormone Connection" - Revolutionary Discoveries Linking Hormones and Women's Health Problems - by Gale Maleskey, Mary Kittel, and the Editors of Prevention Health Books for Women.
The book gives a quick introduction on a number of hormones & their function & why hormone balance is important. It goes on to discuss connections between emotions and hormones & hormonal imbalances leading to memory lapses, menstrual discomfort, blood sugar problems, premature menopause, infertility, etc.. The last parts of the book discuss how you can balance your hormones through diet, exercise, supplements, humor, attitude changes, etc. .. and gives specific suggestions for problems like hot flashes, acne, hairloss, hirsutism etc.. There is a GREAT resource section in the back (also has resources listed throughout the book).
Overall I found the book to be a good starting place for [my] education on female hormones. Probably good for newbies. PCOS is mentioned but the book is not PCOS-specific. The book doesn't go into a ton of detail on any one topic but provides a great overview of it all.
