I'm looking for other wls patients who are having issues once again with gaining weight in their abdominal area... and having hormone issues....
I had a saliva test done for bhrt treatment. The compounding pharmacist says I have adrenal fatigue, problems with insulin in the mid tummy region and honestly, my weight has jumped up 10 lbs since I got Mirena last year and I can't get it off. I have tried calorie cutting, carb cutting, exercise, I am frustrated and very afraid that I am going to regain weight in the stomach area!
I have a high estrogen dominance, and not enough progesterone. He wants me to do a colon cleanse and add calcium D glucamate (sp?), along with changing a few things in my diet. I am afraid to do these things because I am not sure that they are safe for us as a bypass patient. I am going to see a new gyn next week as mine does not believe in any bhrt but conventional hormones only... kinda "put a band aid on each symptom as they occur" type of mentality instead of getting to the root of the problem.
Anyway, I would/need to hear from any person who is having these issues again. My lowest weight was 116, I far exceeded my weight loss goals, and I am afraid that my weight will start to spiral and climb again, not out of MY diet and lifestyle, but out of HEALTH issues.
Dang you mother nature! You sure are a biotch!

Hello? Is there anyone who has had wls and has PCOS/INSULIN RESISTANCE/METABOLIC SYNDROME and now in perimenopause? I am frustrated and discouraged at the lack of information that is available within our gastric communities!

Hi, Mel! Who is your surgeon? I used Dr. Spaw in Nashville. Have you contacted your surgeon about using the colon cleanse? I would contact your surgeon and get some recommendations from him/her about what you should be doing. Are you seeing an endo? You might want to seek one out. I would request a full blood work up to see how your hormones are now.
I wish you the best.
No I have not asked my bariatric surgeon about the colon cleanse. I will be honest. I do not want one, I do not think its a good idea... I told the compounding pharmacist... so unless the new gyn tells me that's what I need to do, I am not going to bring it up! If they insist, I will talk to my surgeon. It's Dr. Hugh Houston over at Centennial.
Quite honestly, what I see is that he leaves these other things up to a specialist and only deals with the bariatric side effects/symptoms problems... he would not consider this one of them and would refer me out....I have a long list of history to show tomorrow's new doctor (gyn) and from what I hear she does a great hormone workup... And, I have a few of my own tests that I am going to request.
Another thing, I did get an endo appointment for the end of the month. That way all the blood tests will be back and he can review all of those. I will keep you posted. I am just tired, and my period is near so that means I'm worried, concerned, over anxious, all that wonderful stuff..!!
