Question Hormone test - which day of cycle?

Can any of you girls help me? I am going to have my androgen levels tested (blood sample) and I think I have read that this should be done on a specific day of your cycle - early in the cycle as far as I remember. My doctor says that it doesn't matter which day, but I want to do this the right way and my cycles are regular.

Thank you so much for any input!

Hugs

Good question, wish I knew the answer! My blood tests were ALL normal which was very annoying, because I have all the symptoms pointing to high androgen levels.

I would think hormone levels are something that fluctuate, however those specific ones I'm not sure (the male hormones). My doctor said the same thing, doesn't matter what time of the month you test for those.

I think there are some "sticky" posts about blood tests, including if the tests are normal.

It is cycle day 3 for most tests. Check the reference chart in my PCOS FAQ link in my sig line, just scroll down to the testing section.
Hope that helps.

I had to wait until day 21 of my cycle. My Dr ordered not only the normal blood samples but also a saliva sample to test hormones. I dont know if it was the saliva or blood that required me to do it on that day, but I do know that it showed my androgen levels were crazy high.

Thank you all so much for your replies! I think I will go on day 2 or 3 of my next cycle. I remember reading somewhere on the 'net that it was day 2. Thanks Japan for your post and the excellent link.

You're so welcome. Whichever day you choose, make sure you'll have repeat tests done the same CD for better comparison. Good luck.
