Hormones more messed up than I thought! So I got the salivary test results back:
Estradiol: 5.9pg/ml (1-9pg/ml range)
Progesterone: <20pg/ml (20-130) BELOW RANGE
Testosterone: 64pg/ml (15-45pg/ml) ABOVE RANGE
DHEAs: 31ng/ml (2-11) ABOVE RANGE (but normal in blood tests)
Cortisol AM: 8ng/ml (3-10)
Cortisol Noon, Evening, and Night: all low range or low normal
From this they've concluded adrenal fatigue and a very low progesterone level. I already knew about the high testosterone. Interesting since my urine cortisol was high a few weeks ago, now they say that since it's fairly normal range in the morning but drops sharply for the rest of the day, I'm either in or headed for adrenal fatigue. This could explain why even thought my urine cort was elevated slightly a few weeks ago, the dex test suppressed extremely low, because my adrenals were apparently starting to poop out. They also conclude that my thyroid function, although 'normal' on test results, may be impaired due to my hormone imbalances. Also since my progesterone is so low I have signs of estrogen dominance, thought the estradiol is in normal range.
Basically I've been referred to an adrenal specialist and will probably be taking progesterone supplements, and going from there. It looks like I don't have Cushings, but that my hormones have caused adrenal dysregulation and are throwing things out of the loop. The thing that jumps out most is the lack of progesterone, and explains an awful lot. Well, we'll see!
