Default Horrible Anxiety

I'm so sorry, I need to vent, and this place feels like the only place where people will understand how I feel.

I've been having horrible anxiety problems, and let''s face it, I do have alot to worry about: finishing up my MA, applying to PhD programs, lack of money and a horrible economy (thanks Michigan!), and 3 years and going with no health insurance- and now PCOS.

In the past month, it seems that I just can't keep it together anymore. I feel like my whole body is working against me, and my poor mind is just being worn down and unable to keep a positive attitude through everything.

I've been panicking so bad that my chest hurts for days, and some day it just feels like my heart wants to give out from being so stressed. Right now I'm sobbing hysterically just to try and wear myself out and alleviate the stress.

I feel like I'm trapped in this body that can't ever work right. I feel broken and run down, and some days I wish I could just give up

I'm sorry again for venting, but I had to. I feel like I'm really losing it and I dont know what to do anymore.

I'm so sorry you are feeling this way. I know how it feels to suffer from anxiety and it is really aweful. You are in a bit of a bind with the lack of health insurance. My first instinct was to suggest talking to a therapist. For me personally, Prozac has been a godsend but I know there are many people out there who don't like to take anti-depressants. There is something called Rescue Remedy that helped me out a bit when I first started feeling really anxious. They sell it at most health and nutritional supplement stores in the natural remedies section. Another thing I learned through therapy is to try and use distraction during panic attacks, I play the computer game WoW (I know, I'm a big geek) and its really helpful during stressful times to just let my mind focus on something else.

Heh, I do play Warcraft as well. The anxiety has been severely interfering with my ability to raid with my guild, which is causing a slew of problems on it's own. I do have a bunch of alts that I've been playing as a distraction though, it's pretty fun.

I've been taking prozac (and ativan as needed) but it seems while I'm on metformin and birth contro pills, I can't control the anxiety like I used to. I've switched to a new BC, hopefully that will help.

I used to be happy, I just wish I could get back to that state :/

I have been feeling the same way lately. I feel like I am just going through the motions. I lost my job and have a 2.5 year old daughter to raise. DH tries to understand, but I just don't think he always gets it. Ativan works sometimes. I just want to be happy again too. I have gone to one therapy session, we didn't get very far...LOL. Could it be more than just Anxiety?

Metformin did nothing for my anxiety - exercise did (and did a lot more for my IR and weight that metformin ever could).
I'm not suggesting you should come off (definately not without medical advice) but what sort of exercise are you doing currently?

Ugghhhhh, BC has always caused me to become super anxious...that may be the main culprit. Do some research on the net and you'll find that there are thousands of women out there who have experienced increased anxiety, depression, mood swings, unwanted thoughts etc. from taking BCPs. I am super sensitive to the hormones in them (have tried several brands) and will honestly never take them again. Regular old condoms work just fine IMO .

I also agree that excercise is a great help with anxiety, especially weight training. I work out with DH and we try and motivate eachother to work harder and it is truly a great way to blow off steam.
