Horrible period problems...!

So I went to the doc like a month ago and got put on Ortho Cyclean and everything seemed to be fine! I didn't feel any difference but when it came time for the placebo pills I started having this bleeding problem.
I am bleeding a LOT. Like I'm wearing a tampon which bleeds through in like 20 mins and big huge uncomfortable super pads which I have to change like every couple hours or I'll bleed through them. And sometimes I will have big huge blood clots...not just small ones, but big.
Is this normal for just starting the pill?? And what can I do to help it!?

When was your last period before you started the pills? If it's been a while, then it's normal to have a heavy cycle the first two or three cycles as your body rids itself of the excess lining. Mine were always the heaviest after I hadn't had one in a while.
