Is anyone else getting hot flashes with their hypothyroidism? I know with hyperthyroidism, it's supposed to be somewhat common but not with hypothyroidism. According to my doctor, ladies with hypo are more susceptible to cold (but not hotflashes). I'm too young to be going through menopause, so that's not it. Is anyone else here experiencing the same thing?
TIA!

I am hypothyroid. I basically stay hot most of the time. I used to get really cold at night, but was really hot in the mornings. Since I have been on Levoxyl, I don't get cold much at all. Now, I just stay hot or at least reasonably comfortable. I do have some "hot flashes" occasionally, but like you, I know I am not going through menopause, yet. My gynecologist did all the blood work to make sure.
i get hot flashes alot.b.ut its hard to know if i didnt have pcos , if i would have hot flashes with my hypo or not.

Hi - I found this post kinda late! But, YES - I, too, have had hot flashes. I'm hypothryoid, currently on synthroid and recently diagnosed with PCOS. I felt pretty good before I went on synthroid (a little over a year ago) and although my levels are "normal" now, I experience hot flashes, chest tightness, trouble swallowing at times, fatigue, etc. I'm never sure if it's my thyroid or my PCOS that's causing me problems at this point. Doc prescribed metformin but I'm scared to take it. I'm going to an allergist/asthma doc soon to rule that out. One thing after another isn't it??!
Just know, you are NOT alone. :-) If I find any other info about these darn hot flashes, I'll pass it on.
Wow! I too am Hypothyroid and am ALWAYS having full on hot flashes...but i never put the two together untill reading your post and the following responses...
Does anyone out there have any suggestions for how to ease these hot flashes?
