Default household remedies for acne

i thought it would be good to have a thread for acne remedies that can be made from things you can find at home.

we already have the nappy rash cream (penaten (sp?) or sudocrem).

i tried an ayervedic remedy once that was a teaspoon of honey mixed with turmeric. not sure how the turmeric works, but i know honey is a good natural antiseptic and a good (but sticky) natural plaster and can stop infections.
the mixture worked quite well, but you need to wash really well after to get the yellow off!

another i haven't tried yet is a cinnamon solution applied as a face wash. i love cinnamon so i'm going to try it soon.

does anyone else have some good household remedies?

I use honey as a mask.
Aspirin for exfoliation.
Tea tree oil for spot treatment.
And if I pick at a zit, I use Neosporin on it.

Hope this helps.

I use asparin on big angry ones to reduce inflammation and redness.

I also have used a salt paste to reduce swelling on big ones.

Default Neosporin

Neosporin is a triple antibiotic ointment for cuts, scrapes, etc.

It can be bought where most OTC medicines are found.

Default Honey on a pimple...

My daughter got this remedy in an e-mail. She tried it and it really does work!

If you get a big angry pimple, rub a few drops of honey into it and cover it with a band aid overnight. Leave the honey on pretty thick, but covered by the band aid; I bought her some of those little round ones just for this purpose.

In the morning when you get up, you will be utterly amazed at the improvement. Some have gone away completely, some of the most stubborn take 2 or 3 days. In the morning the honey had almost completely been absorbed into her skin, so there was not much sticky residue to clean up.

Plus, honey is the only food that never spoils. It has healing properties. It's wonderful and natural.

Try it and see for yourself.

For the aspirin- yeah I crush a non-coated aspirin until it is powder and mix it with water to make a paste. When Im in a hurry at night sometimes I just run the tablet under water and then rub it around on the pimple for a minute. When it dries you can see it coated your skin.

I think Manuka honey would be very good for spots as it's supposed to be especially antibacterial!

Apple cider vinegar is meant to be good but I've never stuck it out long enough to find out.
